A Jan. 6 defendant from Texas who ran for Congress last year and is reportedly attempting another political run has been granted permission to “examine and publish” footage, evidence and discovery from his criminal case surrounding the events of the 2021 Capitol attack — but the Justice Department says not so fast.

Ryan Zink, 35, of Lubbock, was granted access last week by U.S. District Judge James Boasberg on account of the DOJ not filing a memorandum in opposition to Zink’s March 22 motion to lift a protective order keeping his case material sealed. Boasberg issued a minute order on April 9 announcing his decision, which the DOJ apparently saw and responded to Wednesday with the document in question.

“As the Government has not opposed Defendant’s Motion to Lift Protective Order, the Court orders that the Motion is granted, and the Protective Order is lifted,” a docket entry from Boasberg said last week.

In response, the DOJ’s top prosecutor in Washington, D.C., Ed Martin, signed off on a memorandum in opposition Wednesday that said granting such a request to Zink would put people at risk and pose a threat to national security.

“Lifting a protective order in this case creates a dangerous opportunity and could potentially place sensitive information in the possession of those who would use it to harm the national security, in addition to allowing terabytes of information including individual defendants’, witnesses’, and victims’ personal identifying information to be released to the public,” Martin said. “The government has thus demonstrated that release of these materials could cause a significant hazard to others, and there is no prejudice to the defendant from continuing the protective order here.”

Zink, who was defeated in the Republican primary last year, is reportedly running for a seat in Texas’ 19th District. He was found guilty in the District of Columbia back in 2023 of three charges related to Jan. 6, including one felony and two misdemeanor offenses.

“While on restricted grounds immediately outside the Capitol building, Zink filmed a series of video clips,” the DOJ said in a press release announcing his conviction.

“In one clip, the defendant recorded himself stating, ‘We knocked down the gates! We’re storming the Capitol! You can’t stop us!”” the DOJ said. “In the same video, Zink panned the phone camera to show the crowd around him and later began chanting, ‘We want Trump!’ as he moved through the crowd at the footsteps of the Capitol.”

Zink was caught on video and audio saying several different things that were brought up by DOJ prosecutors in his case file.

“You all want to know how it’s going? We are going to bum rush this s—!” he allegedly said in one clip.

“In a second video, the defendant filmed the crowd as it attempted to breach the Rotunda Doors to the Capitol,” the DOJ alleged. “Zink stated, ‘They’re not going to get this one.’”

In a third video, the DOJ said Zink shouted, “You wanted to see what it’s become? We’re in the doors!” Toward the end, he allegedly turned the camera to capture another individual smashing out a window near the Rotunda Doors.

“Broke down the doors,” Zink later allegedly wrote in text messages obtained by the DOJ. “Pushed Congress out of session … I’ll be posting pictures in a little bit when we get back … we accomplished the job,” Zink said.

He allegedly added, “I’m afraid the time for rioting is over better clean those guns and invest in some level 4 armor.”

Martin said Wednesday in the government’s opposition filing that since Zink has been pardoned by President Donald Trump, like other Jan. 6 defendants, “there is no need for further discovery, and the defendant does not have any First Amendment right to the discovery provided to him.”

More Law&Crime coverage: ‘Entitled to reimbursement’: Trump DOJ says Jan. 6 defendants deserve to get restitution refunds after having cases ‘invalidated’

Martin claimed the protective order “continues to operate to protect information that is vital to national security” and “significantly affects the privacy rights of victims and witnesses, even after the conclusion of the investigation and prosecution,” per the filing.

“The defendant has cited no authority or rationale to release this volume of material, protected by these orders in hundreds of similar cases, in such a wholesale fashion, where this material is no longer necessary to his defense and could cause such damage to the national security and rights of third parties, including witnesses and victims,” Martin said.

“The defendant’s argument that the government should make its discovery databases available to the public fails to address the vast amount of information that has already been made public through the government’s investigations and prosecutions of these cases,” Martin added. “The events of January 6, and the ensuing investigations and prosecutions, are important to our history as a nation — events that must be considered through appropriate public access to government records and through public discourse. But criminal discovery is not the appropriate mechanism to vindicate that interest.”

Martin accused Zink of trying to “abuse the discovery process,” even though his counsel was given access to the materials in question while defending him.

“The defendant has no further right to, nor need of, the discovery in this matter,” Martin concluded. “The Court should deny the defendant’s motion.”

Zink’s attorney, Roger Roots, argued in their motion that he and other defendants — along with journalists, researchers and the public as a whole — have a right to examine and publish the footage, evidence and discovery that’s in question.

“The vast majority — perhaps almost the entirety — of camera footage, film and photos collected in these discovery databases do not concern any locations of the Capitol which are off-limits to the public,” the motion said. “Indeed millions of tourists have seen and been in the hallways and areas.”

Roots claimed that the public and press have a “presumptive First Amendment right of access” to judicial proceedings in criminal cases, which gives Zink the ability to make such a request.

“The roots of public access to court proceedings and records lie in ‘democratic values of accountability and openness,’” the motion said. “Few cases could be more crucial for publication of all court files and records than Zink’s case, and January 6 cases in general. January 6 cases are famously political, and President Trump has called the prosecutions a “grave national injustice.” Accordingly, the public’s interest is even more accentuated than in other types of cases.”

Jeremy Brown, a former U.S. Army Green Beret who was given a seven-year sentence for the weapons and grenades case, gained support from Trump’s Justice Department in late February, with federal prosecutors telling U.S. District Judge Steven Merryday that “based on consultation” with DOJ leadership it was the position of the United States that the offenses Brown was accused of — including possessing a modified AR-15 short-barreled rifle and sawed-off shotgun, both unregistered and owned illegally — were “intended to be covered” by Trump’s pardon order.

Merryday, a George H.W. Bush appointee, agreed and on Wednesday vacated Brown’s convictions with an official order in the Middle District of Florida Tampa Division. The move came after the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals relinquished jurisdiction in March to the district court to “consider and rule upon” the United States’ motion to vacate and dismiss the explosives and gun convictions against Brown, who was sentenced in 2023 and released from prison in February.

“The United States’ motion is granted, the judgment is vacated, and the second superseding indictment — and, derivatively, perforce the pardon, both the superseding indictment and the indictment — are dismissed with prejudice,” Merryday said. “The clerk must close the case.”

More from Law&Crime: ‘The president possesses no such authority’: Lawsuit pits Kavanaugh against 5th Circuit in challenge to Trump’s order that aims to ‘dictate’ new rules for national elections

For his Jan. 6 case, Brown was accused of “unlawfully and knowingly” entering and remaining in a restricted building and grounds at the U.S. Capitol, according to court documents. He was charged in Washington, D.C., federal court with misdemeanor trespassing and disorderly conduct, with photos showing Brown donning military gear.

In Florida, Brown was found guilty after a jury trial in December 2022 of possession of unregistered short-barreled firearms, possession of unregistered explosive grenades, improper storage of explosive grenades, and retention of classified information.

According to evidence presented at his trial, the FBI executed an arrest and search warrant at Brown’s residence in Tampa on Sept. 30, 2021, and found an unregistered AR-15-style rifle — modified to have a 10-inch barrel — in Brown’s bedroom. Agents also allegedly found the sawed-off shotgun on a couch inside of Brown’s recreational vehicle, which was parked near his home.

“Inside a briefcase next to the shotgun, agents found a classified Trip Report that Brown had authored shortly before he retired from the U.S. Special Forces,” prosecutors said in an April 2023 press release. “Inside the bedroom of that same RV, agents found an ammunition vest containing two M-67 fragmentation grenades hidden in the pockets. U.S. Army records confirmed that the grenades had originally been in the possession of the U.S. Army.”

Prosecutors didn’t provide a specific reason in their February notice of filing Brown’s certificate of pardon for why his weapons and explosives convictions were being thrown out, just that it was “based on consultation with Department of Justice leadership.”

Attempts by Law&Crime to reach the DOJ for comment Wednesday were unsuccessful.

Emily Hernandez, 25, got hit with a 10-year sentence by Franklin County Judge Ryan Helfrich for the death of 32-year-old Victoria Wilson on Jan. 5, 2022, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and local NBC affiliate KSDK. She received 10 years and another seven years for injuring Wilson’s husband, Ryan E. Wilson — who was riding with her that night — with the sentences to be served concurrently.

“No matter how loud I cried out to her, I couldn’t wake her,” Wilson said in court Wednesday, where he reportedly used a cane to walk due to the severity of his injuries, per the Post-Dispatch. “I couldn’t reach her because of the air bags.”

According to her criminal complaint, Hernandez was driving drunk on the wrong side of the highway during the fatal crash that killed Wilson and injured her husband. The crash happened just after 7 p.m., with their cars colliding in the eastbound lane of I-44.

Hernandez had a blood-alcohol content of .20% when tested after the crash, more than double the legal limit.

“What I did was ungodly and I will live with that shame for the rest of my life,” Hernandez said at her sentencing, according to the Post-Dispatch. “I am sorry for what I did and if I could take it all back, I would.”

Victoria Wilson’s family told KSDK after the court proceeding that while it’s nice to see justice be served, there’s “an empty hole” in their hearts that will never be filled.

“Nothing will bring her back,” said Victoria’s mom, Tonie Donaldson. “It was some relief to be able to turn and look her in her eyes and tell her how much harm she had really done to us … that’s a choice she made, she has to live with it.”

Hernandez, who pleaded guilty to the drunk driving incident, was pardoned by President Donald Trump last week on his first day in office — along with other rioters — after she pleaded guilty in January 2022 to a misdemeanor for entering the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6.

More from Law&Crime: Jan. 6 rioter pardoned by Trump wanted on child solicitation charge for allegedly trying to meet up with minor after ‘multiple explicit messages’

After the attack, Hernandez was seen in pictures and on video grinning while holding a fragment of a sign appearing to identify Pelosi’s office. She pleaded guilty to one count of entering and remaining in a restricted building after originally being charged with disorderly conduct, disruptive conduct in the Capitol, one count of parading, demonstrating, or picketing in the Capitol building, and “steal[ing], sell[ing], convey[ing] or dispos[ing] of any thing of value of the United States.”

The fatal crash that claimed Victoria Wilson’s life happened just six days before Hernandez was scheduled to plead guilty. She was given a 30-day jail sentence for the Jan. 6 charge.

President Donald Trump may have criminally absolved Jan. 6 participants through pardons, commutations and dismissals this week, but that doesn’t erase the civil lawsuits that are currently pending against several rioters.

Defendants Taylor Taranto and Dr. David Walls-Kaufman, for instance, of Washington state, are both still facing wrongful death lawsuits for attacking a Capitol Police officer who shot and killed himself after suffering from “severe depression” and a “brain injury” caused by a concussion he allegedly sustained at their hands.

As first noted by the Tri-City Herald, Trump’s pardon does not dismiss the civil lawsuit filed by Erin Smith, the widow of Jeffrey Smith, who died by suicide on Jan. 15 just nine days after he was allegedly attacked during the Capitol riot by Taranto and Walls-Kaufman. Court filings viewed by Law&Crime on Thursday confirm the case is still active.

Jeffrey Smith used his service weapon to take his life while on the way to work, his wife says.

During the Jan. 6 riot, Jeffrey Smith was allegedly struck in the face by a metal tactical “cane” that Walls-Kaufman — a D.C. chiropractor — was wielding that day. Taranto is accused of giving him the cane.

“Kaufman was part of the insurrectionist mob inside the US Capitol and was being escorted out of the building by MPD officers,” the wrongful death suit says. “Co-Defendant Taranto handed a cane or crowbar (or similar object) to Kaufman. Kaufman, in turn, violently swung the cane and struck Officer Smith in the face/head.”

Erin Smith’s filing describes the attack as a violent crime of opportunity, with her husband being “in a particularly vulnerable situation because his face shield was up — “leaving his face and eyes exposed,” the lawsuit says.

“It appears that Kaufman and Taranto specifically and maliciously targeted Officer Smith because his visor was in the upright position, making him vulnerable to this brutal and vicious attack,” the suit charges.

Taranto, a U.S. Navy veteran, was caught on surveillance video clashing with Capitol police alongside Walls-Kaufman, prosecutors said. His trial for his alleged actions that day was scheduled to begin in May before it was scrubbed this week. Walls-Kaufman was sentenced in June 2023 to two months in prison after pleading guilty and admitting that he “scuffled” with officers, according to NBC News.

Taylor Taranto appears amidst the melee at the U.S. Capitol Complex on Jan. 6, 2021. (Erin Smith lawsuit)

Last Thursday, Erin Smith’s lawyers filed a motion to compel in the wrongful death case, seeking a response to a subpoena that had been served on the Metropolitan Police Department in connection to what happened to her husband, according to court documents viewed by Law&Crime. Police officials responded Thursday with a filing saying it had compiled the requested info.

Erin Smith has called the attack on her husband an “unlawful” and “intentional” assault.

“As a direct and proximate result of the intentional assault … which, in turn, caused Smith’s death, Erin Smith sustained pecuniary loss, mental anguish, emotional pain and suffering, loss of society, loss of companionship, loss of comfort of protection, loss of marital care, loss of filial care, loss of attention, loss of advice, loss of counsel, loss of training, loss of guidance and loss of consortium,” her suit says.

In addition to Jan. 6, Taranto was arrested and charged for allegedly showing up to former President Barack Obama‘s home in Washington, D.C., in 2023 toting guns, ammunition and possible supplies for an explosive device.

As Law&Crime reported, Taranto was arrested on a fugitive for justice warrant on June 29, 2023, when he was found near Obama’s home in the elite Kalorama neighborhood in northwest Washington, D.C. He took off running toward the residence but was promptly chased off by the Secret Service before being apprehended hours later when he was found lurking in the woods.

Prosecutors said that Taranto stashed weapons, including firearms and ammunition, as well as materials that could be fashioned into a Molotov cocktail-like device. They also claimed the military vet had been lingering in Washington, D.C., for months before the incident.

He often slept in his van near a jail where many Jan. 6 defendants are detained, according to prosecutors.

Standing on the northwest stairwell of Capitol steps at 1:54 p.m., Andrew Kyle Grigsby was among the first rioters to engage with cops, feds say. He is facing charges of civil disorder, assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers using a dangerous weapon and inflicting bodily injury, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a dangerous weapon, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds using a dangerous weapon, and engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds with a dangerous weapon.

More coverage from Law&Crime: ‘Obviously you shouldn’t be pardoned’: JD Vance breaks from Trump’s ‘had no choice’ claims about Jan. 6 rioters and says violent offenders should stay locked up and charged

He was arraigned on the charges in Washington, D.C., on Friday. According to the FBI’s statement of facts about Grigsby’s alleged conduct, surveillance cameras showed him on the steps with a group of other rioters. As the mob was trying to break through the police line, Grigsby was seen holding a black canister, later determined to be bear spray, in his right hand. Grigsby allegedly raised the canister and dispersed the spray at cops, causing them to temporarily retreat.

“One of those officers described himself being unable to breathe or see without unbearable, tortuous pain,” a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia reads.

More coverage: ‘I will refuse a pardon from felon Trump!’: Jan. 6 rioter says she doesn’t want record wiped clean after being ‘bullied by MAGA’ for showing remorse

Prosecutors say Grigsby then went down the stairs where he got ahold of a police riot shield. Witnesses who knew Grigsby identified him from photos in the months following the riot. Agents tried to interview Grigsby at his home in Eubank, some 60 miles south of Lexington. He wasn’t home but a family member confirmed he had been at the riot. The family member also reportedly said that Grigsby had deleted photos from their phone of him at the Capitol.

Agents got Grigsby on the phone and while he admitted being in Washington, D.C., on that day, he said he never entered the Capitol. He also claimed he was not deploying the bear spray at cops, but rather at rioters fighting said cops.

However surveillance footage clearly showed him spraying it at cops, the FBI said.

Grigsby was indicted in November 2023 and again in August but it was under seal until his arrest last week. He remains behind bars, according to the feds.

A Jan. 6 rioter from Illinois who cursed out cops and used a flagpole to smash up a window — shouting “f—ing traitors” and “f—ing communist scum” while storming in and out of the U.S. Capitol building — is heading to prison and paying for the damages.

Justin LaGesse, 37, of McLeansboro, was sentenced Friday to 11 months in prison and ordered to pay $43,315 in restitution by U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg, according to the Department of Justice. He also got hit with 12 months of supervised release.

LaGesse, who pleaded guilty to a felony charge of destruction of government property last September, was accused of storming the Capitol with another defendant, Theodore Middendorf, who also pleaded guilty to destruction of government property and is awaiting sentencing. The pair allegedly smashed up a window near the “North Door” of the Capitol after attempting to get inside, according to court documents.

“While police officers attempted to stop these rioters, Middendorf and LaGesse approached a large window to the left of the North Door,” their criminal complaint says. “The two then used their flagpoles to strike the window numerous times and damaged the window in several places.”

The pair allegedly went in and out of the Capitol, harassing cops along the way, according to DOJ prosecutors. They spent some time in the “Senate Wing Door” lobby area after entering through a broken window, per the complaint, and were caught on surveillance video carrying flags and waving them while chanting “U.S.A.” repeatedly.

“After leaving the U.S. Capitol, LaGesse and Middendorf approached a line of Metropolitan Police Department officers standing behind a bicycle rack barricade,” the complaint says. “As they get near the officers, LaGesse called the officers ‘f—ing traitors” and ‘f—ing communist scum.’ For several minutes, LaGesse continues to lob insults at the officers while Middendorf stands nearby.”

DOJ prosecutors say that after the riot, the Architect of the Capitol determined that the total cost of the damage to the window was $41,315.25. LaGesse was arrested by the FBI in January 2024.

“In the 48 months since Jan. 6, 2021, more than 1,583 individuals have been charged in nearly all 50 states for crimes related to the breach of the U.S. Capitol, including more than 600 individuals charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement,” DOJ officials said Saturday in a press release.

President-elect Trump has said repeatedly he plans to pardon Jan. 6 rioters once in office, but he’s kept details under wraps.

Vice President-elect JD Vance on Sunday provided the clearest explanation yet of the plans to pardon defendants such as LaGesse, telling “Fox News Sunday” that while there’s “a little bit of a gray area there,” those who committed violence during the 2021 U.S. Capitol attack “obviously” shouldn’t be pardoned. Those who protested “peacefully,” however, can expect to have their records wiped clean.

“I think it’s very simple,” the former Ohio senator said. “If you protested peacefully on Jan. 6 and you’ve had Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice treat you like a gang member, you should be pardoned. If you committed violence on that day, obviously you shouldn’t be pardoned.”

A study on extremism in the military that was commissioned by the Department of Defense in wake of the Jan. 6 attack has been called out by the Associated Press for using old data that “grossly undercounted” the number of active and veteran members arrested for their involvement in the 2021 Capitol assault.

The Pentagon-funded study has been propped up as proof of extremism not being a problem in the armed forces by media outlets and political talking heads since its release in Dec. 2023, including Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, who is referenced by the AP in its Nov. 26 report on the alleged DOD inaccuracies.

“Study Disproves Military Extremism Problem,” a headline said from Fox News and Hegseth on Jan. 4, 2024, per the AP. “They knew this was a sham,” Hegseth reportedly told a live Fox audience, in reference to assertions made by military leaders like Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, saying the Jan. 6 attack was a “wake-up call” to the extent of right-wing extremism in the U.S. military.

“Then they do the study, which confirms what we all know,” Hegseth reportedly said.

The Wall Street Journal cited the DOD study — titled, “Prohibited Extremist Activities in the U.S. Department of Defense” — in an opinion piece with a headline that said, “The Military’s Phantom ‘Extremists.”” Republicans on the House Armed Services Committee pointed to it on social media, saying it was evidence of a “witch hunt.”

Biden wrongly targeted our servicemembers w/ a divisive & political witch hunt on ‘extremism’.

This report found that polarization & division in the ranks may pose a greater risk than radicalization.

Biden’s divisive far-left politics don’t belong at DoDhttps://t.co/UPbXaHwLX6

The AP, however, found through an investigation of the Institute for Defense Analyses and its researchers who worked on the DOD study that their information was “old” and inaccurate.

According to the AP, report authors for IDA did not use new data that was readily available to them and instead based their “foundational conclusions” on Jan. 6 arrest figures that were allegedly more than two years out of date by the time the findings were released last December. “As a result, the report grossly undercounted the number of military and veterans arrested for the Jan. 6 attack and provided a misleading picture of the severity of the growing problem,” the AP reports.

According to the IDA study, “of the more than 700 federal cases in which charges were publicly available a year after these events [Jan. 6], fewer than ten were for individuals who were serving in the military” at the time of the Capitol attack.

“Based on the size of the military relative to the general population and considering the rate of charges for males and females, we find no evidence that service members were charged at a different rate than the members of the general population,” the study says. “Nearly a year after the incident, there were 704 federal cases where charges are publicly available.”

According to IDA, 82 of the 704 people arrested had military backgrounds, or 11.6% of the total arrests. The institute used data compiled between June 2021 and June 2022.

The AP reports that the number of arrestees had nearly tripled when the IDA study was released last December, with 209 people with military backgrounds being listed as arrestees that month — and more than 230, or around 18%, currently.

The IDA study admitted that there had been “some indication” that the numbers were “slightly higher” and “growing” due to vets being charged at later dates, but it insisted that there was “no evidence” the same could be said about active duty troops. The institute claimed there was “no evidence” of participation in violent extremist events by DOD civilians and defense contractor employees, but that too was wrong, according to the AP.

Records obtained by the outlet show allegations being hurled at multiple contractors and at least one civilian employee. One alleged report was made in January 2021, nearly three years before the IDA study was published. It claimed a contractor at the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center had called into meetings while they were at the Jan. 6 attack. The complaint reportedly led to the contractor’s termination.

“It’s a shame that a shoddy report by the Pentagon gives an opening to views like Hegseth’s and will perpetuate a head-in-the-sand approach to a serious national security issue,” Heidi Beirich, co-founder of the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism, told the AP. “Making light of the problem is ultimately a threat to the security of the American people, and politicizing the problem, which Republicans have done over recent years, means more violence.”

Left: Dustin Ray Williams. Right: Williams grabbing at police officers during the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol (Department of Justice).

A Texas man will spend nearly two years behind bars for his role in the Jan. 6 riot in which he grappled with cops and stayed inside the U.S. Capitol grounds for about two hours as they prevented Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 Presidential election.

U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell on Friday sentenced 33-year-old Dustin Ray Williams to 22 months in prison followed by three years of probation, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. Williams pleaded guilty on July 11 to assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers.

More coverage from Law&Crime: Jan. 6 rioter who assaulted D.C. cops gets another conviction for planning ‘assassination missions’ on FBI agents

FBI agents received a tip in the days following the riot after Williams posted a video on Facebook describing the “TRUTH” about the riots, a criminal complaint said. He claimed he did not commit any violence or vandalism. He described the rally in which then-President Donald Trump fed his supporters lies about a stolen election as peaceful. Williams then peddled the debunked theory that the riot was “a sophisticated, orchestrated infiltration conducted by Antifa and funded by the ‘Swamp.””

But video from the Capitol showed that Williams had indeed rioted, and was easy to spot.

Williams wore a bright orange construction shirt with the name of a Colorado business he previously did business with, feds said. The shirt had the name and phone number of the business on the back, resulting in the owner reportedly receiving a slew of angry and threatening phone calls.

The complaint says the video showed Williams shoving and grabbing at police officers and their shields for about 25 seconds before he was pepper sprayed. Cell phone camera footage also captured Williams “threateningly” shouting at cops “You shot an unarmed person,” and “There’s a lot more coming, motherf—ers,” feds said.

Agents also noted that he was confronting people trying to break windows to get inside the building. In his sentencing memorandum, Williams said he “truly regrets” taking part in the riot and had never been arrested prior to the incident. He also didn’t commit a “violent assault” worthy of significant incarceration.

“Mr. Williams traveled to Washington, D.C., as many thousands of others did, to show political support,” his attorney, Kyle Wackenheim, wrote. “There is no evidence to suggest Mr. Williams traveled with the intent to disrupt the certification process or to otherwise wreak havoc. He came plain clothed and did not carry a flag. Unlike many, Mr. Williams did not come with protective gear, such as padding, helmets, goggles, backpack, or body armor. He did not carry a radio or pepper/bear spray.”

Cops arrested Williams on Aug. 1, 2023. So far more than 1,500 people have been charged in the riot including 600 who like Williams assaulted police officers. Those who still have pending cases have been asking to delay hearings as Trump, slated to enter his second term in January, has indicated he may issue pardons to the defendants.
