Rudy Giuliani appeared in a federal courtroom in Manhattan on Friday for a hearing on whether he should be held in contempt after the onetime personal attorney for President-elect Donald Trump allegedly flouted multiple court orders in connection with the two Georgia election workers he defamed trying to collect the $148 million judgment awarded in their favor.

Last month, U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman, a Trump appointee, ordered Giuliani to appear in person for the Jan. 3 hearing on the contempt issue following numerous requests from the plaintiffs regarding his “consistent pattern of willful defiance” involving court orders to turn over of his personal property and provide information to plaintiffs for discovery.

Liman on Thursday rejected Giuliani’s last-minute request to appear virtually for the contempt hearing after the former New York City mayor said he was “having medical issues with his left knee” as well as “breathing problems due to lung issues” that were the result of him “being at the World Trade Center site on September 11, 2001.”

The hearing, which began at 10 a.m., went through the day and will be continued at the same time on Monday. However, Liman will allow Giuliani to appear virtually for the proceedings as he will not be questioned by plaintiff’s counsel again.

A federal judge in Manhattan on Friday ordered Rudy Giuliani to attend a contempt hearing after two Georgia election workers accused him of violating court orders and repeatedly flouting discovery obligations.

On Thursday, Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea ArShaye “Shaye” Moss asked U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman to hold the former New York City mayor in contempt and impose sanctions.

In a motion and accompanying 22-page memorandum of law, the pair explained how they have lost their patience as they seek to enforce the multimillion-dollar judgment in their defamation case against him.

With due haste – and before Giuliani was able to file a response to the contempt and sanctions request – Liman ordered the parties to attend a civil contempt hearing slated for the morning of Jan. 3, 2025.

Georgia election workers defamed by Rudy Giuliani are now asking for him to be slapped with “severe sanctions” for allegedly violating several court orders and repeatedly flouting his discovery obligations.

On Thursday, Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea ArShaye “Shaye” Moss filed a 22-page motion asking U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman to hold the former New York City mayor in civil contempt and harshly punish him to enforce compliance with recent court orders.

Those orders were issued by the court on Oct. 28, and Nov. 22. The first order directed the defendant to expediently reply to discovery requests and set deadlines for such replies. After the first deadline was missed, the court set another deadline for Giuliani to explain himself and avoid being held in contempt. Now, that second deadline has whooshed on by and the plaintiffs have lost their patience.

“Mr. Giuliani has not produced a single document in response to Plaintiffs’ discovery orders in this matter notwithstanding multiple orders from this Court requiring him to do so,” the latest motion reads.

A federal judge in Washington, D.C., has ordered Rudy Giuliani to appear for an in-person hearing next month after the two Georgia election workers he defamed requested he be held in contempt of court for allegedly repeating the lies about the 2020 election that resulted in a $148 million judgment against the former New York City mayor.

The motion for civil contempt was filed Wednesday morning after Giuliani made several pleas last week for public donations, saying he couldn’t afford to feed himself as a result of debt he owes to Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea ArShaye “Shaye” Moss.

Defamed election workers in Georgia are still brawling with Rudy Giuliani in court as they attempt to collect as much of their $148 million judgment as possible in property, including $2 million in “never paid” legal fees stemming from Giuliani’s ill-fated 2020 election lawyering for Donald Trump and his campaign.

Lead plaintiff Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss in August asked a federal court to order Giuliani to “turn over personal property in his possession” and to appoint them as “receivers with the power to take possession of, and sell, both real and personal property that Mr. Giuliani does not turn over,” like his New York apartment and his Florida condo.

Rudy Giuliani is asking a federal judge in New York to stop defamed Georgia election workers from referencing any of the money he may or may not be owed by Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign — at least for another month or so.

In a late Tuesday filing, the former New York City mayor’s attorneys asked U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman to bar Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea ArShaye “Shaye” Moss from litigating issues related to “Defendant’s alleged claim against the Trump Campaign.”

Giuliani himself previously — during his since-shelved bankruptcy proceedings — raised the $2 million claim against the Trump campaign. Meanwhile, Freeman and Moss raised the claim in the present case — an effort to enforce their defamation case judgment — in late August.

Now, Giuliani wants a preemptive-but-temporary kibosh on any further legal maneuvers related to those alleged arrears.

Special counsel Jack Smith’s arguments against Donald Trump’s claims of presidential immunity in the Jan. 6 case were published, to a large degree, on the public docket by the court overseeing the matter in a “voluminous” and “oversized” opening brief on Wednesday.

The filing contains a litany of new, never-before-revealed information about the behavior of the 45th president – and those in his orbit – in the days, weeks, and months following his 2020 election loss.

While the government alleges Trump and several co-conspirators spread “knowingly false claims of election fraud,” there were apparently some claims about the integrity of the election so outlandish that even Trump himself privately expressed doubts.

In one instance, those rebuffed-by-Trump claims were made during a press conference by pro-Trump attorney Sidney Powell, according to the brief. Later, when speaking with others about the allegations Powell released into the public sphere, Trump ridiculed them.

Rudy Giuliani’s quest to cut down hundreds of thousands in bankruptcy fees by nearly half has not gone on in his favor, even after he claimed to be “overbilled” and even after the judge in the case and the forensic financial advisor both reduced the amount of money owed.

A Friday filing from Global Data Risk noted that the prior ask of $324,843.75 in fees was dropping down to $300,480.47, as a consequence of the objections of the U.S. Trustee’s Office and U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane’s decision.

“In response to objections that the United States Trustee raised informally, GDR agreed to voluntarily reduce its fees by $7,562.50. The Court reduced the total fees to be paid by an additional $16,800.78,” a footnote detailed.

The judge presiding over Rudy Giuliani’s bankruptcy on Thursday granted a reprieve by declining to decide, then and there, whether the former New York City mayor should have to sell his million-dollar Florida condo, but the jurist also issued a clear warning: The worst is very likely yet to come.

Before a Thursday hearing, Giuliani asked U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane not to force him to sell the condo as he appeals the $148 million Georgia election workers defamation judgment that sent him into bankruptcy. Giuliani has maintained that the judgment was “unreasonable on its face” and has expressed doubts that Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss suffered “any” damages.

Giuliani argued that ordering him to sell the Florida condo now when, in his view, the judgment may be significantly reduced on appeal, would cause him irreparable harm — and, in any event, he’s already agreed to sell his Manhattan property. He also said he’s “working diligently to grow his broadcast income” and plans to use the Florida condo to do so, which would “only serve to benefit creditors.”

Rudy Giuliani plans to dispute rape and sexual harassment claims lodged against him in a lawsuit filed by a former employee by attacking his accuser’s credibility, Law&Crime has learned. An attorney for Giuliani’s accuser has rubbished the notion.

In May 2023, the former New York City mayor was sued in Manhattan Supreme Court, along with his eponymous businesses, by Noelle Dunphy, who says she worked for him between 2019 and 2021.

“Giuliani began abusing Ms. Dunphy almost immediately after she started working,” the 70-page complaint reads. “He made clear that satisfying his sexual demands — which came virtually anytime, anywhere — was an absolute requirement of her employment and of his legal representation. Giuliani began requiring Ms. Dunphy to work at his home and out of hotel rooms, so that she would be at his beck and call. He drank morning, noon, and night, and was frequently intoxicated, and therefore his behavior was always unpredictable.”
