Justin Metz, 42, singled out the woman at a Walmart in Atchison on U.S. Route 73 earlier this month and kidnapped her under the guise of a security guard, according to the local Hays Post news website and Fox affiliates KCTV and WDAF.

Metz allegedly approached the 32-year-old shopper as she was leaving the store and told her he was an “asset protection officer” who needed to speak with her, the Atchison Police Department reports.

He led the woman to the back of the Walmart and brought her into a bathroom, where he committed the sexual assault and then proceeded to go about his day while the woman notified police, officials say. Hours later, Metz allegedly returned to the Walmart and employees called authorities after spotting him walking around the store.

Cops responded and took Metz into custody without incident and charged him with kidnapping, rape and sexual battery. Walmart sent a statement out Tuesday confirming that Metz was not an employee nor was he working as a security guard.

“The safety of customers and associates is a top priority,” the retail giant said, according to WDAF. “We acted swiftly to engage law enforcement and are working closely with them throughout this investigation.”

Metz’s attack unfolded on March 9, but wasn’t reported until Tuesday. He has yet to appear in court for his charges and is currently locked up at the Atchison County jail as police look into whether Metz has committed similar attacks on other women. A court date has not been set for him yet as the investigation continues.

Two Texas men are behind bars after meticulously planning the kidnapping, rape, and murder of a woman, Lone Star State police say.

In the end, whatever plan might have existed was not seen to fruition.

Dustin Adlai Yates and Brad Michael McKinney stand accused of stalking and murder, according to Smith County Jail records.

The alleged plot was slowly uncovered by law enforcement after Yates was initially arrested on the stalking charge alone in December 2024, according to court documents obtained by Jacksonville, Texas-based NBC affiliate KETK, which serves the state’s eastern reaches.

The ordeal began in the fall of 2022, when the victim, referred to in court documents as Myra, ended her relationship with Yates and blocked his attempts to contact her through phone and email.

Undeterred, Yates allegedly went on to use various phone numbers — with several different area codes — to continue to contact the woman, authorities say. By 2023, the alleged harassment escalated to the point where Myra filed a family violence case with the Houston Police Department. A detective intervened, warning Yates to cease all communication with his ex-girlfriend. He allegedly did not listen.

Myra complained to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office about nine separate threads she received beginning Oct. 31, 2024. In one of those emails, Yates allegedly mentioned the woman’s former address.

Contact allegedly kept up.

During the early morning hours on Dec. 1, 2024, Yates allegedly messaged the woman using a phone again. In those messages, Yates allegedly said “her expiration date was soon” and that “she had a predictable schedule and daily driving routes,” according to court records cited by KETK.

Later that day, Myra received a photograph of a friend’s house where she had previously stayed, an affidavit alleges. That friend confirmed receiving the same picture from the same phone number.

Detectives would eventually be provided with a slew of chilling messages the alleged victim received.

“I’d be vigilant if I were you,” one message reads.

The affidavit offers a laundry list of that alleged outreach:

“You were a busy girl in 22”

“I wonder what your expiration date is”

“I think it’s soon”

“You have a very predictable schedule and daily driving routes”

In interviews with various members of law enforcement after being arrested late last year on the stalking charge, a broader, more disturbing picture was revealed, authorities allege.

During questioning, Yates allegedly admitted to conducting multiple background checks on Myra through different websites and uncovering her workplace in Tyler. He also allegedly confessed to using different texting applications to disguise his communications.

“I wanted Myra to be scared and looking over her shoulder,” the affidavit reportedly reads. “Dustin stated, without being asked or the topic being brought up, that he had no intention to kill Myra, and if he wanted to, he would have killed her months ago.”

A search warrant for Yates’ cellular phone allegedly turned up evidence of the second man implicated in the plot, authorities claim.

“[McKinney] agreed to help Yates stalk and gather information on [the woman] for Yates for a monetary return,” the affidavit reportedly reads. “Yates got a large information dump about the woman from a private investigator. Yates forwarded Myra’s vehicle and address information to McKinney so he could help him locate the woman.”

Yates allegedly offered McKinney $650 for “wisdom and guidance.” In response, he allegedly replied: “help in any way I can.”

In sum, detectives say the two men exchanged 741 text messages discussing a complex scheme to kidnap, rape and kill Myra.

The pair allegedly discussed McKinney’s experience as a sniper, debated which types of bullets would inflict the most pain, and deliberated about how the inciting moment of subterfuge could begin — including posing as a UPS employee or pizza delivery man.

McKinney was allegedly paid $1,300 for information he provided Yates. The co-defendant also stood to gain some $15,000 for a concomitant plan to film the violence, authorities say.

On Jan. 9, Smith County Sheriff’s deputies took McKinney on various warrants — related to the case and otherwise. During questioning, the second defendant allegedly admitted to accepting money from Yates but attempted to minimize his role, claiming he did not take Yates’ threats seriously and only gathered the information for financial gain.

Yates, for his part, allegedly did not intend to long survive what happened to his ex-girlfriend, according to law enforcement.

In one message, he allegedly told McKinney of a plan to take his own life. In response, McKinney allegedly replied: “take out some filthy people in our country and go down swinging buddy.”

He usually met the young kids through friends or significant others. Over a 25-year period, he groomed and sexually abused at least six girls — all under the age of 12.

On Thursday, a Missouri judge sentenced 53-year-old Edward Martinez to nine life sentences in prison. A jury in September convicted Martinez of a slew of charges, including child molestation, statutory rape and statutory sodomy. Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Patterson said in a press release that the abuse occurred between 1996 and 2021. The oldest victim was 12. The youngest: 4. Prosecutors called him a “serial child molester.”

More on Law&Crime: Teacher’s aide accused of raping teenage student with mental capacity of 9-year-old after boy’s mom catches her at their home on a snow day, cops say

“The evidence showed that Martinez was a manipulative predator who groomed the girls and their families with gifts and financial support in order to have access to the young girls,” the press release stated.

Martinez claimed the girls were lying and made up the stories because they knew he had been found not guilty of similar charges back in the 1990s. But this jury didn’t buy his story.

The panel took just two hours to convict him. After another 30 minutes of deliberation, they recommended the nine life sentences the judge would impose Thursday.

After the verdict, the victims felt a sense of justice. Martinez, a family friend, molested Leanna Bremenkamp’s daughter.

“I looked him in the eye in court and told him that to his face when I was on the stand. I said I told you we would get you,” she told Springfield NBC affiliate KYTV. “I said it might take a while but I wouldn’t rest until it happened. And that’s what we did.”

Republic Police Det. James Stephenson told the TV station that Martinez abused more girls over a longer period of time.

“Thirty-seven years ago was the first victim,” he said. “When you think about that, 37 years of, a life of, essentially what the evidence proved was geared towards victimizing the young and disabled.”

Van Henry Brisbon, 62, will never see freedom after killing Lauren Juma, 16.

At the time of the murder in late April 2022, the teenager’s mother voiced shock and anger.

“He treated Lauren like she was his baby,” Lauren’s mother, Laurie Young, said, according to CBS affiliate KHOU. “I don’t understand. He can rot in jail. He had no reason to take my baby’s life.”

Brisbon began acting strangely the night of the crime, worrying young Lauren so much that she FaceTimed her mother and sister from their home in the Houston-area city of Humble. The mother, who was out of town for work, had the teenager’s older sister show up to the home.”She just wanted to get away, that’s all she wanted,” Keryca Harmon, Lauren’s sister, said in 2022, according to KHOU.

“She just said he was being really weird and wanted me to pick her up.”

She showed up, but it turned out that Brisbon was using a gun to hold Lauren against her will. Harris County deputies arrived but heard gunshots coming from inside the home, according to the prosecution’s new press statement.

Brisbon stepped outside.

“Do what you have to do,” he reportedly told the arresting deputies.

Lauren was inside, dead from the 9mm handgun. Investigators found evidence that Brisbon had tried to rape her.

Jurors convicted the defendant of capital murder after a 9-day trial.

“Our jury heard bodycam recordings of the victim’s screams, cries for help and then gunshots, which were not easy to listen to,” said Assistant District Attorney Katie Warren, who prosecuted the case with ADA Gina Gilmore. “We are thankful to the jurors for their service and their verdict because they were able to do what needed to be done: They gave this victim and her family justice.”

“This defendant was a predator with a gun, and his choice to hurt a young girl and take her life was senseless and horrific,” Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said. “He not only took a promising young woman’s life, his actions have destroyed a family.”

Police in Pennsylvania have arrested an Uber driver who allegedly followed a college student into her on-campus dorm room and raped her after bringing her home.

Mirvan Dinler, 26, was arrested on Friday, Philadelphia ABC affiliate WPVI reported. The assault allegedly occurred the night of Sept. 13, according to the station.

The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was reportedly out with friends in Philadelphia for a birthday party that night. She apparently started feeling ill during a ride to a nightclub, so she decided to go home. Her friends reportedly waited with her until her Uber arrived to take her back to her dorm.

The driver of that Uber was Dinler, police say. He allegedly picked her up at around 10:19 p.m. and arrived at the university almost an hour later, at 11:08 p.m., according to the WPVI report.

He then is said to have followed her into her dorm room after her dropping her off. He allegedly raped her and forced her to perform oral sex, police say.

More from Law&Crime: ‘Full-blown sexual predator crisis’: Lyft driver followed passenger into her home, raped, impregnated her, lawsuit alleges

Dinler left, but then allegedly came back and demanded that the victim give him money for what he said was a mess in his car. She allegedly handed him her phone, which Dinler purportedly used to send $150 via Venmo. He finally left after that, WPVI says.

The student reported the alleged attack to university officials the following week. A spokesperson for Villanova reportedly said that the driver had been banned from Villanova property during the pendency of the investigation.

Court records show that Dinler is charged with rape, indecent assault, and reckless endangerment. Several of the charges are enhanced because the victim, having had multiple drinks that night, is deemed a “substantially impaired person.”

Uber said in a statement that Dinler is no longer with the ride-share service.

“Sexual assault is a devastating crime that has no place in our society, Uber said in a statement, according to CBS News Philadelphia. “We are appalled by what’s been described, and banned the driver as soon as this was reported to us. We will assist law enforcement however we can.”

Court records indicate Dinler was unable to post bail and is currently being held that the Delaware County Prison. He has a hearing scheduled for Oct. 17.

An Arizona man facing assault charges is potentially in even more trouble after allegedly sneaking around jail guards in order to commit sexual assault.

Justin Avery had been detained in April for allegedly assaulting multiple women near the Tempe campus of Arizona State University, Phoenix ABC affiliate KNXV reported. Video released by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office appears to show Avery at the Intake Transfer and Release Facility days after his arrest, crawling backward along the edge of an official’s desk.

According to reports, Avery did successfully reach his target, allegedly making his way behind a woman who was asleep and lowering his pants.

Another woman who witnessed Avery’s actions allegedly told him to “get off her,” and Avery allegedly responded by telling the woman to be quiet. The exchange got the attention of an officer, who then called for backup.

He reportedly told police that he had crawled like a “spider” toward his intended target. He also — in crude language — told investigators that he was drawn to the woman’s physical appearance and that he did indeed intend to “rape” her, KNXV reported, citing court records.

Avery was subsequently charged with an additional count of sexual assault.

More from Law&Crime: Dozens of Inmates Raped, Assaulted, and Harassed After Jailer Sold Male Prisoner a Key to Women’s Wing, Federal Lawsuit Claims

Maricopa County authorities say the situation involving Avery is extremely unusual.

“We’re appalled by inmate Avery’s actions at our [Intake Transfer and Release] facility,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement emailed to Law&Crime. “This was a unique incident and the first of its kind in four years, since the ITR facility was open.”

The sheriff’s office said that mirrors have been added “for better monitoring in the blind spots that were identified,” and a review of procedures was conducted.

“The safety of staff and inmates is our top priority, and we’re committed to ensuring this doesn’t happen again,” the statement said, adding: “Inmate Avery has been reclassified due to his institutional behavior.”

According to court documents, Avery has a court hearing scheduled for Tuesday.

An Ohio lawyer has been permanently disbarred for repeatedly joining with her boyfriend to abuse his 13-year-old daughter.

The Ohio Supreme Court disbarred lawyer Amber Renee Goodman of Elida, Ohio, rejecting ethics officials’ recommendation for an indefinite suspension based on the lawyer’s plea to a lesser charge, report the Columbus Dispatch, Law360 and Court News Ohio (via the Legal Profession Blog).

“Looking to the misconduct underlying Goodman’s conviction shows that her actions were tantamount to rape,” the Ohio Supreme Court said in its March 12 decision. “Goodman encouraged and perpetuated the sexual molestation committed by the victim’s father, and at the very least, she was complicit in his crimes. But she was actually more than complicit—she actively engaged in the repeated rape of the child.”

The abuse involving Goodman and the teenager’s father happened over a period of four to six months. The boyfriend had sexual intercourse with Goodman and his daughter, while Goodman performed other sexual acts, the state supreme court said. The teen said, however, her father began sexually molesting her much earlier, when she was 9 years old.

“Goodman’s willingness, in the victim’s words, to ‘join in’ perpetuated and added to the abuse that the child suffered, and Goodman became just another ‘monster’ in the child’s life,” the Ohio Supreme Court said in an opinion by Chief Justice Sharon L. Kennedy. “And rather than report this abuse to authorities, Goodman told the victim not to tell anyone about it.”

After the teen reported the abuse in January 2019, Goodman continued a relationship with the teen’s father for two years.

Goodman had pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual contact with a minor, a third-degree felony, in May 2022. The law bars adults from engaging in sexual conduct with a person older than age 13 but less than age 16, when the offender knows the age of the victim or is reckless in that regard.

Goodman was placed on an interim suspension after her conviction. The Ohio Board of Professional Conduct had recommended an indefinite suspension with no credit for time spent under interim suspension. Generally, lawyers on indefinite suspension can apply for reinstatement after two years, according to Court News Ohio.

Goodman was sentenced to 30 months in prison. She was released after almost eight months of incarceration provided that she served 120 days in the county jail and five years on community control. She was also required to abstain from use of alcohol and illegal substances.

Goodman had claimed that past trauma had made her susceptible to manipulation by the boyfriend. Goodman said her father had left when she was 3 years old, and “nothing she ever did as a child was good enough for him.” She also said she had been mentally abused by one of her two ex-husbands and physically abused by both of them.

“At her disciplinary hearing, Goodman portrayed herself as the victim of manipulation and lies, but she failed to explain how that could possibly cause her to molest a child,” the state supreme court said.

Nor did she produce evidence showing how trauma that she suffered as a child and an adult contributed to her misconduct, the Ohio Supreme Court said.

In a concurrence, Justice Michael P. Donnelly said ethics officials would have been able to recommend a more appropriate sanction if “the criminal-justice system properly held Goodman to account for the criminal acts she committed.”

Donnelly said he thought that Goodman would have been convicted of rape if prosecutors had presented evidence available to the Ohio Supreme Court.

Donnelly criticized the Ohio Supreme Court for rejecting a rule change eight years ago that would have required felony charges in plea bargains to have a factual basis in the conduct actually committed.

“As a result,” Donnelly said, “Goodman managed to plead guilty to a crime that does not come close to accounting for the vile acts she committed.”

Goodman’s lawyer, George D. Jonson, did not immediately reply to an ABA Journal email and a voicemail seeking comment. Jonson’s voicemail message states that he is in a disciplinary hearing through Thursday.

Three high-profile cases of sexual assault in 2012 followed a basic pattern: A teenage girl was sexually assaulted at a house party by one or more teenage boys while she was incapacitated by alcohol. The attacks were recorded, and the photos, videos and stories were shared on social media or via texts. The photos and videos were used to ridicule the victims among their peers. Those texts and posts later became evidence in criminal cases.

These incidents took place in Steubenville, Ohio; Maryville, Missouri; and Saratoga, California, and sparked national conversations about youths, technology and sexual assault in 2013.

“The question gnawing at everyone, myself included, was: What were these kids thinking?” writes Anna Gjika, a sociology professor who studies crime and gender issues.

More than 10 years later, Gjika has attempted to answer that question in her new book, When Rape Goes Viral: Youth and Sexual Assault in the Digital Age. She took a close look at the three attacks in 2012 but identifies a number of similar instances that have happened more recently.

One of the elements that the public found shocking about the cases was how many bystanders filmed or photographed the unconscious girls or the sexual assaults as they were occurring, without intervening.

In talking to people involved in the cases and to teens in general as part of her research, Gjika found that the young people did not think of their social media as archival so much as “of the moment.” They filmed and posted what was happening around themselves because they were used to doing that.

“Sharing an experience has become an integral part of the experience,” Gjika writes.

In this episode of The Modern Law Library podcast, Gjika and the ABA Journal’s Lee Rawles discuss her research into generational attitudes toward social media and sexual assault, the promises and pitfalls of digital evidence in sexual assault cases, how social media can be empowering or degrading for survivors, the social responsibility held by the legal community and the tech industry, and what interventions could be effective to prevent such assaults from taking place.

Digital evidence, such as cellphone videos and texts, can be extremely beneficial to prosecutors looking to prove incidents of sexual assault, particularly when victims are unable to recount their experience because they were unconscious or impaired during the attacks.

But Gjika explains that this kind of evidence is not uncomplicated. The way that juries perceive the evidence will still be filtered through societal expectations and prejudices. Defense attorneys do not have the same access to digital evidence from tech companies and usually lack capacity to process immense amounts of data.

The expertise, willingness and resources of police departments and prosecutors’ offices to seek out this evidence also vary widely. And the victims can be further traumatized by the use in court of images and video of their assaults and the knowledge that the images continue to be disseminated on the internet.

In closing, Rawles and Gjika discuss what actions can be taken by schools, the legal community and the tech industry to prevent such attacks or to assist victims whose assaults have been digitally documented. Gjika thinks that educational programs and trainings for teens have to focus on peer groups and norms, rather than emphasizing individual responsibility, and “must be grounded within adolescents’ lived experiences, rather than on adult fears and anxieties.”

She also argues that adults, as well as teens, would benefit from “ethical digital citizenship initiatives,” where concepts such as privacy and online decision-making could be discussed. And she suggests the creation of government-funded organizations to assist survivors with removing digital content from the internet.

Rudy Giuliani plans to dispute rape and sexual harassment claims lodged against him in a lawsuit filed by a former employee by attacking his accuser’s credibility, Law&Crime has learned. An attorney for Giuliani’s accuser has rubbished the notion.

In May 2023, the former New York City mayor was sued in Manhattan Supreme Court, along with his eponymous businesses, by Noelle Dunphy, who says she worked for him between 2019 and 2021.

“Giuliani began abusing Ms. Dunphy almost immediately after she started working,” the 70-page complaint reads. “He made clear that satisfying his sexual demands — which came virtually anytime, anywhere — was an absolute requirement of her employment and of his legal representation. Giuliani began requiring Ms. Dunphy to work at his home and out of hotel rooms, so that she would be at his beck and call. He drank morning, noon, and night, and was frequently intoxicated, and therefore his behavior was always unpredictable.”

The case against Donald Trump’s former lawyer and longtime friend has been scandalous from the beginning. The initial complaint also alleges Giuliani “took Viagra constantly,” frequently made “sexist, racist, and antisemitic remarks,” as well as comments on Dunphy’s appearance and intellect.

Content warning: sexual assault.

The filing also contains a graphic rape allegation.

“Giuliani then pulled her head onto his penis, without asking for or obtaining any form of consent,” Dunphy complaint states. “He held her by her hair. It became clear to Ms. Dunphy that there was no way out of giving him oral sex. She did so, against her will.”

In an updated complaint, Dunphy cataloged a series of offensive statements Giuliani allegedly made about Arabs and Jews. That filing also contained several lewd comments about Dunphy — including commentary on her breast size, the age gap between the two, and more.

Dunphy has said that she was Giuliani’s off-the-books director of business development — while Giuliani has denied that she was an employee. He also said the two were in a consensual relationship.

More Law&Crime coverage: Rudy Giuliani’s raw reaction to sexual assault suit by employee he ‘dated’ was quietly edited, and the truth may be even stranger

Representatives for Giuliani now appear primed to wage a defensive effort that would cast Dunphy as a serial fabricator.

“Ms. Dunphy has a documented history of making harassment claims against men for the purpose of making money, which has been reported in-part by the New York Post,” Ted Goodman, a political adviser to Giuliani, told Law&Crime. “Ms. Dunphy’s history of this sort of behavior is well documented and available through public records.”

The New York Post coverage referred to by Giuliani’s spokesperson, however, does not mention Dunphy by name.

That article refers to a legal battle between an unnamed woman who accused her much older ex-boyfriend of viciously sexually assaulting and tormenting her in a lawsuit — and a counter-lawsuit in which the woman’s ex-boyfriend claims she has previously engineered “schemes to defraud high net-worth men.”

“The assertions by Mr. Giuliani and his representatives sound like more like wishful thinking than sober analysis,” Dunphy’s attorney, Justin T. Kelton, told Law&Crime. “Unlike Mr. Giuliani, no court has ever found that Ms. Dunphy made any misrepresentation. Furthermore, Ms. Dunphy has already come forward with substantial evidence in support of her allegations, and her sworn complaint speaks volumes. Mr. Giuliani’s attacks on Ms. Dunphy are both inappropriate and extremely ironic coming from someone with his track record.”

The latest filing in the case occurred in early January. That’s when Dunphy’s lawsuit was stayed pending the resolution of Giuliani’s bankruptcy proceedings in the Southern District of New York.

Dunphy’s lawsuit alleges 22 causes of action against Giuliani, including battery claims under New York’s Adult Survivors Act. Her lawsuit seeks $10 plus unspecified punitive damages.

Have a tip we should know? [email protected]

An Alabama man arrested after the stabbing and attempted rape of a woman in a park earlier this month was granted early release from prison on a prior rape conviction from nearly two decades ago, authorities say.

Bernard Christopher Abney, 40, is currently charged with a Sex Offender Registration Notification Act violation, according to Mobile County Sheriff’s Office records reviewed by Law&Crime.

The defendant is also the prime suspect in the stabbing of a 21-year-old woman who was attacked in Heritage Park during the late afternoon on Jan. 17, according to a series of press releases and wanted posters issued by the Foley Police Department on Facebook.

After releasing several different images alleged to be Abney culled from various surveillance videos, he was arrested on Saturday.

“We are relieved that he is in custody and appreciate all the hard work by the many agencies involved as well as the media and citizens of our local communities,” Foley Police Chief Thurston Bullock said in a press release.

At around 5:40 p.m. last Wednesday, a woman ran to a local business and said she had been attacked. After the initial 911 call, police described her as having suffered “non-life threatening injuries” including “stab wounds to the left forearm, left torso and left thigh.”

The incident is alleged to have occurred along the Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail, just east of Alabama State Route 59, police said.

The trail itself is highly landscaped and lined with hundreds of roses, according to a recreation website, and runs through Heritage Park and downtown Foley, near the city’s central business district.

“We have learned that the suspect was around the park before the assault,” police said in an update. “At this point in the investigation, the victim does appear to be a random target of opportunity.”

In multiple photos posted by law enforcement, the man eventually identified as Abney appears to be riding a blue bicycle and wearing dark-colored clothes and a beanie. Police highlighted the man’s clothes and method of transportation, first referring to him as “a person of interest.”

“Detectives have eliminated several individuals in this case and continue to follow up on all leads,” Foley police wrote in a third update.

Bullock said Abney turned himself in on Saturday night, according to Mobile-based Fox affiliate WALA.

Court documents obtained by the TV station and AL.com reportedly show that Abney was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of rape in the second degree in 2005.

In that earlier case, which occurred in 2003, Abney is alleged to have raped a 16-year-old girl at gunpoint in a vacant lot after she and her friend refused to give him and another man their phone numbers. Abney was originally charged with first-degree rape and credited with over a year’s worth of time served when he took the 2005 plea deal.

The defendant was originally slated for release eligibility on July 2, 2023, AL.com reported.

In 2021, a sentencing reform measure intended to address understaffing and overcrowding expedited early release schedules for certain inmates. This measure allowed Abney to be considered for such release in January 2023. On Jan. 31, 2023, he was released along with 369 other state prison inmates, according to AL.com.

Overall, Abney’s release schedule was expedited by some six months.

Abney will be charged with one count of assault in the second degree and one count of attempted rape in the first degree, police said.

Still, local officials in Foley took the opportunity to blast the prison reform law — while thanking law enforcement.

“I am very proud of our police force and the team effort to bring it to a close with an arrest,” Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich said. “These types of crimes are extremely rare in our community but when they occur, they cause great anxiety. It is no surprise to me that our men and women closed this difficult case quickly.”

“I am, however, disappointed in our state system for allowing an early release of a person who has not been rehabilitated into society,” the mayor added.
