A former funeral home owner in Mississippi has been accused of using a storage unit to illegally store bodies — even going so far as to describe it as his “casket warehouse” on TikTok — after he lost his business license, cops say.

“The discovery of human remains in a storage unit in our city is deeply disturbing and raises serious concerns that demand a thorough investigation,” Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons said in a statement last week after the arrest of Albert “Al” Creath, 31, was announced by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.

Creath, a former owner of the Creath Memorial Services funeral home in Greenville, was arrested and charged with two counts of improper desecration of corpses after authorities found three bodies inside of a storage unit belonging to him at a facility in the 2000 block of Reed Road near Beauchamp, The Clarion-Ledger reports.

Washington County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Billy Barber told The Delta News that he believed Creath was trying to continue hosting funerals and burials, which he advertised for on social media. He said the bodies were discovered during a suspected burglary.

“This is an isolated incident from somebody just not doing what they were initially assigned to do with these corpses,” Barber said.

Videos posted on a TikTok account purportedly belonging to Creath, who goes by “FuneralHomeCEO” online, show him stowing away caskets and other funeral items inside of a storage unit.

“My 2nd home,” he says in a caption for a video from September 2024.

“Casket warehouse,” Creath adds.

Authorities say they are probing the former funeral home owner and his actions since losing the business license to see if they warrant any other charges.

“As more details emerge, we will continue to keep the public informed,” Simmons said. “Greenville is a community that values dignity, respect, and the rule of law. We will not tolerate any actions that violate those principles. I understand an arrest has been made but I also urge others with information to come forward and assist authorities in their investigation.”

A battle is brewing in upstate New York between a Trump-supporting business owner who erected a large “Vote for Trump” sign on the roof of his building and local government officials concerned about safety.

The city of Amsterdam, which is about 35 miles northwest of Albany, on Friday obtained a restraining order against a printing company called Sticker Mule, which is preventing the sign from being illuminated at night, according to local NBC affiliate WNYT. The company’s CEO, Anthony Constantino, is an ardent supporter of Donald Trump and formed a political action committee on the former president’s behalf.

More from Law&Crime: Trump lawyers demand ‘equal opportunity’ to fire back at Jack Smith’s massive immunity brief but not before the election has come and gone

Constantino was forced to cover the sign after a Montgomery Supreme Court issued the order. A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday. Local officials say the 100-foot-wide sign presents a “dangerous distraction” and could ensnarl traffic or cause accidents because of people stopping to take pictures of the sign, the order obtained by UPI reportedly said. The city also reportedly said the sign violates city code which says any business sigs must relate to the business itself.

Sticker Mule is housed in a factory building that is several stories high. The sign is prevalent among the city’s skyline.

“It’s a picture opportunity. Today, people with cell phones slowing down, pulling off the side of the road. Our biggest concern was traffic safety,“ Amsterdam Mayor Michael Cinquanti told WNYT.

Amsterdam said Constantino’s PAC came to the city in August about the sign, and the city warned that it would violate code. Constantino erected the sign anyway. It went up last week. He even invited the public to an “official lighting ceremony” at the building at 26 Elk Street scheduled for Monday night.

Constantino sent the following statement to local media outlets:

I made a beautiful sign, designed by local artists, to bring much needed enthusiasm to Upstate, NY which is what we need to re-ignite economic growth. The sign symbolizes the return of manufacturing to America and elevates the skyline of our hometown. Whether you’re Democrat or Republican, it’s a tourist attraction that will bring economic activity to Amsterdam, NY making it a big win for everyone. Only highly partisan and short-sighted politicians would take issue with it.

A New York day care operator pleaded guilty on Thursday to sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy in his care. The Department of Justice said in a press statement that Silfredo Castillo Martinez, 34, possessed almost 10,000 image of child sexual abuse material.

According to court documents, Google gave the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children a tip on April 25, 2022, that a user had uploaded what appeared to be child sexual abuse material.

Authorities used the Google account to track down the defendant at his home on Decatur Avenue in the New York City borough of the Bronx. From there, he ran a day care, licensed to care for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years old.

When investigators executed a search warrant at his home, they seized electronic devices that contained about 9,800 images of child sexual abuse material in addition to images and video depicting the 11-year-old’s abuse.

Investigators determined that the abuse happened in Castillo Martinez’s bedroom.

In speaking to authorities post-Miranda, the defendant admitted uploading the abuse material to his Google Drive account, documents stated.

Castillo Martinez faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 in his sentencing to take place June 25.

“Silfredo Castillo Martinez exploited the trust placed in him as a day care provider by sexually abusing one of the minor children under his care and by forcing that child to perform sex acts on him,” said U.S. Attorney Damian Williams of the Southern District of New York. “Additionally, Castillo Martinez had nearly 10,000 images depicting child pornography in his possession, all the while caring for children on a daily basis. Castillo Martinez’s conduct is reprehensible, and he now faces more than a decade in prison for his crimes.”

A Louisiana man was convicted of killing a barbershop owner, shooting him three times, then covering his head with a pillow and shooting him twice more in the face in a robbery, prosecutors said.

A jury convicted Raymond “Ray” Lee, 38, on Friday of second-degree murder in the killing of Alonzo “Zo” Wiley, 35, prosecutors said in a Saturday news release.

The murder happened before dawn on Dec. 5, 2021, in the months after Hurricane Ida, when Wiley had been staying at a motel. Also staying there were Lee, a convicted batterer, and his girlfriend. The slaying happened after Lee texted Wiley, lying to him, putting him at ease so he would “freely allow him into his motel room,” prosecutors said. Citing police, The New Orleans Times-Picayune said the two men had been arranging a sexual encounter.

In the room, Lee tried to rob Wiley but shot him during a struggle when Wiley tried to get away, authorities said. Police found Wiley dead inside.

Investigators also got their first lead. Motel surveillance video showed someone driving Wiley’s new BMW from the motel behind a black Jeep Cherokee four minutes after the 911 call. The Cherokee belonged to Lee’s girlfriend.

Weeks later, detectives found the Cherokee — with Lee inside — at another motel. In his motel room, detectives found a bag of 9 mm ammunition — the same kind as the spent casings found at the crime scene. Lee’s iPhone had texts with Wiley. On Lee’s phone, police found a video of a stolen 9 mm pistol. The gun belonged to Wiley’s niece, who bought it and allowed Wiley to carry it, authorities said.

Cellphone location data showed Lee had been in the immediate area at the time of the murder.

Lee initially told detectives he was not at the scene, saying he had been at a lakefront at the time of the murder. He later admitted to texting and meeting with Wiley but denied killing him.

His attorney accused the Sheriff’s Office of fabricating evidence, prosecutors said.

Lee’s girlfriend was not involved and was not charged in the case.

Lee was convicted in 2019 of second-degree battery. In addition to the conviction for Wiley’s murder, he was convicted of obstruction of justice for removing the pistol he used in the killing and for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He’s set to be sentenced on March 7.

The killing of Wiley, a U.S. Navy veteran and beloved owner of The Grooming Gallery, shattered family and friends.

“It was senseless,” Wiley’s niece, Azona Wiley, told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “If someone needed something from him, he would have given it. Even if you robbed him, you didn’t have to kill him.”

His obituary said he was generous, dependable, loyal, handsome, and stylish.

“These are just some of the words to describe our charismatic Alonzo,” the obit read. “We knew him as Zomula and he lived life to the fullest and on his own terms. He kept a smile on his face and uplifted everyone in his presence. He was the first person to call when you needed something and always the life of the party.”
