A Florida woman is facing multiple charges for opening fire on a man she lives with after he told the 59-year-old, “You don’t run this house,” prompting her to spit in the victim’s face and pull a silver revolver on him, which she blasted in his direction at least four times, cops say.

“P— boy,” Cassandra Stuckey allegedly called the victim before opening fire on him, according to her arrest report, which was obtained by local ABC affiliate WPLG.

Stuckey, who is a Miami resident, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon and illegal possession of a firearm in connection with her alleged Sunday night shooting attack, according to court records.

Police in Florida arrested a 29-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death in her car in Miami.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said in a press release it began investigating shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday when the grandmother of a 3-year-old flagged a deputy down in the area of Southwest 144th Street and Southwest 134th Avenue. The girl had been walking alone in the residential complex. She had what appeared to be dried blood on her face and clothing, cops said.

Deputies went to the girl’s home in search of her mother but she wasn’t there. During a search of the area, cops found the mother’s vehicle and found her unresponsive with apparent stab wounds. Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the woman, later identified as 24-year-old Maria Camila Garcia-Molina, dead.

Through “investigative means,” cops arrested 29-year-old Joy Chandra Nath on charges of second-degree murder and child abuse.

Local NBC affiliate WTVJ obtained an arrest report that further detailed the incident. It said deputies found Garcia-Molina’s body covered in blankets in the passenger seat of her car. She suffered from stab wounds on her neck, torso and other extremities. Deputies reportedly believe the girl was with her mother at the time of the murder. The girl told deputies that her mother was hit in the head and was sleeping, according to the affidavit. It did not appear the girl suffered any physical injuries in the incident.

A Florida mom is accused of neglecting her kids after neighbors allegedly found two unclothed toddlers wandering alone on the sidewalk near her home.

Heidy Teressa Diaz-Torres, 25, is facing a charge of felony child neglect with no great bodily harm, according to Miami-Dade County court records. The children, ages 1 and 3 years old, were found on Tuesday by two women who spotted them in the 700 block of West 37th Street in Hialeah, a city just northwest of Miami. Local local ABC affiliate WPLG, citing a police report, said that the women told officials that one of children was able to tell them where they lived, and the women walked them to their home.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has reportedly directed authorities in the Sunshine State to stop immigration arrests from being carried out under a new law, which was signed into effect by Gov. Ron DeSantis in February, after a federal judge ripped local cops in court for ignoring an order she gave blocking such arrests.

“There is no such basis,” proclaimed U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams, a Barack Obama appointee, in court on Friday, according to the Miami Herald. “Why aren’t these people being released immediately?” she reportedly asked.

Robert Schenck, a lawyer who is representing the Office of the Attorney General, which is being sued over the new state law that was signed into effect by DeSantis — allowing for the arrest and prosecution of undocumented immigrants in Florida — claimed during the hearing that while state officials were blocked from issuing arrest warrants under Williams’ order, the state believed that law enforcement officers did not have to comply because they don’t act “in concert” with one another, per the Herald.

After Texas chief justice criticizes ABA, state supreme court reconsiders ABA accreditation for law schools

The Texas Supreme Court is inviting comments on a requirement that law grads seeking bar admission in the state must have graduated from a law school accredited by the ABA Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar.

In an April 4 order, the Texas Supreme Court requested feedback on whether to “reduce or end” reliance on the ABA as an accrediting agency and “alternatives the court should consider.”

The state supreme court is inviting comments from the Texas Board of Law Examiners, Texas law school deans, the bar and the public, the order said.

The Texas Supreme Court did not comment on the reason for its order. But Chief Justice James D. Blacklock criticized the ABA in his February State of the Judiciary address for “aggressively taking sides in the fight going on in Washington about the scope of the president’s executive power.”

ABA President Bill Bay has criticized the Trump administration’s “wholesale dismantling of departments and entities created by Congress,” as well as “efforts to dismiss employees with little regard for the law and protections they merit.”

The Texas Supreme Court’s order follows a similar move last month by Florida’s top court. It has created a subgroup to reconsider the requirement that law grads taking the Florida bar exam must have graduated from an ABA-accredited law school.

The Florida Supreme Court took action because of “reasonable questions” about an accreditation standard on diversity and “the ABA’s active political engagement,” according to a press release. The Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar has suspended enforcement of its diversity standard as it works on revisions.

The Association of American Law Schools is making the case for national accreditation of law schools in an April 8 open letter that has also been submitted to working groups considering the accreditation issue in Texas and Florida.

Thirty-three law schools, most of them in California, don’t have ABA accreditation. Most have “extremely low bar exam pass rates, poor job outcomes and high attrition rates,” the letter said.

The letter said national accreditation is critical for ensuring “a minimum baseline of quality in legal education and practice.” Most states don’t have the resources to sufficiently evaluate law schools, and “piecemeal, fragmented or overlapping regulation would increase costs on law schools, their students and the profession,” the letter said.

Creating different barriers to a law license that vary by state would also hamper lawyer mobility and add to lawyer deserts, the letter said.

The letter also clarified that the ABA does not accredit law schools. Instead, that job is handled by the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar, “a national accrediting entity that is separate and independent from the bar association.”

Jennifer L. Rosato Perea, the managing director accreditation and legal education for the ABA, issued a statement to the ABA Journal.

The council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar “understands the [Texas] Supreme Court’s need to thoughtfully consider the council’s continued role in accreditation and hear from a variety of perspectives to ensure that this accreditation continues to serve its admission requirements,” the statement said.

“The council’s primary purpose in accreditation has been and continues to be contributing meaningfully to the production of effective and ethical lawyers, as well as serving the interests of the public in Texas and all other states throughout the United States.”

A Florida man will spend over a decade behind bars for brutally stabbing a woman who criticized his children at a supermarket.

Jammacar Rodkesh Gayle, 40, was convicted by a jury of his peers in March after a three-day trial in Florida’s 20th Judicial Circuit.

On Monday, the defendant was sentenced to 12 years in prison on one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon or causing great bodily harm, the state’s attorney announced in a press release.

The knife attack occurred near the butcher’s counter at the Milan Supermarket on Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte — a large, census-designated place some 30 miles northwest of Fort Myers.

He’s not accused of being on drugs, but a man named Edward Cocaine did allegedly wave a knife at employees after a confrontation at a Florida Subway restaurant.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey posted about the April 5 incident on Facebook.

“Clearly this guy, Edward Cocaine, (and yes that’s his real name) doesn’t know that in Brevard County, if you Mess Around you’re gonna Find Out…the hard way!!” Ivey wrote.

Cocaine, 45, and a friend went to the Subway on Merritt Island and felt he was being treated rudely by the employees, a probable cause arrest affidavit said. The friend wanted to leave but Cocaine allegedly wanted to address the perceived disrespect.

The defendant allegedly entered the employee area behind the counter, pushed past one employee and raised a knife as if he were about to stab someone, the complaint said.

“Yes folks, you read that correctly, he pulled out a knife and gestured as if he was going to injure them all because he didn’t like the way they spoke to him and his friend!!,” Ivey quipped.

Cocaine’s friend restrained him and the two left the restaurant, per cops. Using surveillance video, cops identified Cocaine’s friend’s truck. Deputies went to go speak to the friend who identified Cocaine as the perpetrator.

A Florida couple allegedly suffocated a teen girl to death with a billiard ball before chopping her up and stuffing the body parts in the trunk after torturing her for a week over a missing ring.

Steven Gress, 35, and his girlfriend Michelle Brandes, 37, needed to dispose of the victim’s remains — but first they needed to celebrate Brandes’ birthday, cops wrote in a search warrant request obtained by the Tampa Bay Times. Gress and Brandes ate chicken at Popeyes and then played mini golf at Congo River in Clearwater, the 25-page warrant written by the St. Petersburg Police Department reportedly said. After their birthday bash, the two suspects allegedly drove around the Tampa Bay area looking for places to dispose of 16-year-old Miranda Corsette’s body.

Eventually, they found a dumpster near where Gress’ grandparents lived in Ruskin and tossed Miranda’s remains there, the warrant reportedly said. They got lucky: Cops believe the dumpster was taken to a landfill and its contents — including Mirada’s remains — were incinerated. Now prosecutors will have to try and convict the couple without a body.

But helping the state’s case is the fact at least six people saw Miranda with the couple or knew she was being tortured, the warrant seeking to obtain the contents of Gress’ mother’s phone reportedly states. Per cops, Gress was known by neighbors to take disadvantaged women into his home. Miranda, a mother of an 1-year-old child, was a frequent runaway with mental health and drug issues, cops said. Detectives believe Gress and Miranda met on a dating app and took her to his home in mid-February. Gress allegedly spoke to neighbors about the girl and even bragged to them about hurting her.

“This little b—- stole my ring and won’t give it back,” he reportedly said. “So I’ve been beating her a–.”

Gress also allegedly sent nude pictures of Miranda that showed her increasingly worsening injuries to at least three people, including his mother. His mother denied seeing them.

While no one else has been charged, Sixth Judicial Circuit State Attorney Bruce Bartlett told the Times “there’s a pretty good likelihood of more to come.” Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Gress and Brandes.

Detectives also questioned a woman who lived with the defendants. She accused Gress of being abusive and he would buy animals off Craigslist and kill them by throwing them off a bridge, the warrant reportedly stated. Not long into Miranda’s stay, he accused her of stealing his ring, cops reportedly wrote. This sparked the weeklong abuse and torture, cops allege. As the alleged torture continued, Brandes said she found the ring. The roommate thought Brandes probably had it all along and took it so he would ditch Miranda, according to the warrant.
