A Florida woman is facing multiple charges for opening fire on a man she lives with after he told the 59-year-old, “You don’t run this house,” prompting her to spit in the victim’s face and pull a silver revolver on him, which she blasted in his direction at least four times, cops say.

“P— boy,” Cassandra Stuckey allegedly called the victim before opening fire on him, according to her arrest report, which was obtained by local ABC affiliate WPLG.

Stuckey, who is a Miami resident, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon and illegal possession of a firearm in connection with her alleged Sunday night shooting attack, according to court records.

The man, who has not been identified publicly, was at a home that he shares with Stuckey in the 1800 block of Northwest 44th Street when she allegedly fired upon him, the Miami Police Department reports.

The victim allegedly told authorities he heard Stuckey talking to someone outside the home about how she “runs this house,” according to WPLG. When she walked inside, he allegedly told Stuckey, “You don’t run this house,” before going into his room.

More from Law&Crime: Man knowingly gave AIDS to cancer survivor wife who died 2 days after she was diagnosed — and he may have infected other women: Prosecutors

Police said Stuckey retrieved the revolver from her bedroom and then walked over to the victim’s glass-paneled door to his room, tapping on it with the gun. After calling him a “p— boy,” she fired a single shot into his room and then four additional gunshots, police said. A witness who was at the scene allegedly told detectives he heard the argument and watched Stuckey fire “three to four rounds” toward the victim’s bedroom.

Stuckey, a four-time convicted felon for possession of cocaine, allegedly denied firing a gun into the victim’s bedroom and noted how there were no bullet holes in the victim’s door to prove it, WPLG reports. A gun matching witness and victim descriptions was allegedly found inside the home the following day.

It’s unclear what sort of relationship Stuckey and the victim had, with cops only revealing that they lived together. Stuckey was being held Monday on a $12,500 bond, according to jail records.

A 33-year-old Florida man accused of killing a woman and severely injuring her boyfriend by drunkenly ramming their car off the road because he mistakenly believed his ex-girlfriend was in the vehicle told a judge on Thursday that he didn’t remember “anything” about the incident.

The apparent case of amnesia came up during Kyle Hill’s first virtual appearance in the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court on Thursday.

Hill told Circuit Judge Philip Federico that he no memory of allegedly sending 35-year-old Norbelis Figueredo-Campos, and his girlfriend, 28-year-old Arislenni Blanco-Medina, off the road and right into a concrete pole. The pole then fell atop the couple’s car, killing Blanco-Medina and seriously injuring Figueredo-Campos.

During the hearing, Hill claimed he was unable to answer questions from the court, according to courtroom footage obtained by Tampa NBC affiliate WFLA.

“Apparently, your car is not in good shape after the accident situation, was that paid off?” Federico asked, referring to Hill’s pickup truck that was upside-down following the crash.

“I don’t remember anything, sir,” Hill responded.

As previously reported by Law&Crime, police say that after Hill and his ex-girlfriend had an argument Sunday night, she hopped in a car and left with a friend.

Hill then allegedly jumped in his own vehicle and drove south on 34th Street near 30th Avenue North in St. Petersburg in search of her. Hill then spotted a Honda which he thought she was riding in and allegedly proceeded to “aggressively” chase and harass the Honda for several blocks, police said.

“While chasing a car, he called her again and said, ‘I got you. I’m going to kill you, your friend and myself,’” Chief Anthony Holloway told reporters at a press conference. “But it gets worse from there. The car that he was chasing was not his girlfriend’s car.”

Actually inside the Honda were the victims, both of whom were recent immigrants from Cuba and were on their way to a local Walmart. Police allege Hill forced the Honda off the road and over the sidewalk near 17th Avenue North, where it smacked into a concrete pole, which fell and crushed the car. Blanco-Medina died while Figueredo-Campos suffered serious injuries, including a broken femur and two broken ankles.

Hill lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree in the median, police said. In addition to him traveling 60 mph in a 35 mph zone, Hill’s blood alcohol level was 0.185, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08, according to police. Initially charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide, he now stands accused of first-degree murder and attempted murder.

“He used his car as a weapon,” Holloway said.

Figueredo-Campos immigrated from Cuba and had been in the U.S. for about a year and a half, while his girlfriend arrived a few months ago. Blanco-Medina was talking on the phone with her father and 9-year-old daughter during the incident and told them she feared for her life. Her family members heard the crash.

The victims’ families spoke at the press conference about the excitement Figueredo-Campos had when his girlfriend joined him in the U.S.

“His dream, obviously, was to bring his girlfriend, his partner, here with him so she could provide for her daughter and her parents in Cuba,” his aunt said in Spanish. “They were very ambitious when they got here.

Nicole Galvan, Figueredo-Campos’ cousin, described her as always happy and never dull.

“You would go to her house, and you would always hear music, and she would always be dancing,” she said. “Her and her boyfriend would always have music and always just bring a brighter and more positive vibe to anyone who was dealing with anything around them. They never had problems with anybody, not a single soul.”

David Harris contributed to this report.

A Florida nurse likely will be blind for the rest of her life after a patient allegedly attacked her unprovoked.

Deputies from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office wrote an arrest affidavit that the patient, later identified as 33-year-old Stephen Eric Scantlebury, had been admitted to HCA Florida Palms West Hospital under the Baker Act, which allows people to be involuntarily detained and examined for mental health issues, and was receiving treatment. Shortly before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday the nurse walked into Scantlebury’s third-floor room. Witnesses said the suspect inexplicably “jumped on top of his bed, and then jumped onto and attacked the victim,” according to the affidavit.

More from Law&Crime: Man killed his dad, hid body under blue tarp in yard telling worried son it ‘was trash’ before fleeing to Walmart

Scantlebury allegedly stood over the victim and repeatedly punched her in the face. A witness yelled for him to stop and he ran out of the room. He fled down the hallway and into the stairwell where he went down to the first floor and escaped from the hospital. The suspect, shirtless and still wearing patches from an EKG monitor, reportedly sprinted across the parking lot and into traffic on Southern Boulevard. Video obtained by local TV stations showed deputies pointing what appeared to be either Tasers or stun guns at Scantlebury and ordering him onto the ground in the middle of the road. He surrendered and deputies took him into custody.

The nurse was transported via helicopter to another hospital where she was last listed in critical condition. Doctors said “essentially every bone in the victim’s face is broken and the victim is likely to lose the use of both eyes.”

According to cops, Scantlebury had been “acting paranoid” for the last few days and “blaming people in his life for events they had nothing to do with.” That led to authorities to take him into custody under the Baker Act.

In a statement, HCA Florida Healthcare said the attack “happened within a matter of seconds.”

“Our primary concern is with our beloved colleague and we are praying for her recovery. We are also providing support to our hospital staff who are understandably shaken by this incident,” the hospital said.

Willa Fuller, executive director of the Florida Nurses Association, also released a statement expressing concern about the safety of nurses as attacks happen across the country.

“With concern about a longstanding nursing shortage, there needs to be substantive action by ALL stakeholders to prevent this kind of egregious action. We would like to see direct care nurses included in any initiatives related to violence against healthcare workers,” she said.

Scantlebury stands accused of attempted murder and is receiving treatment at a hospital. His next court date is scheduled for Tuesday.

A Florida judge on Monday was primed to sentence a 55-year-old man to 20 years in prison for allegedly shooting his ex-fiancee eight times as she lay on the couch. But then the judge heard the alleged victim’s testimony.

Bridget Knighton spoke of the “countless assaults” before the shooting, a courtroom report from Miami ABC affiliate WPLG stated. How the suspect, Gayle Blount, allegedly prevented her from answering the door when the cops would arrive during prior domestic violence incidents, threatening to blow her “brains out” if she “even uttered a sound.” The time he slammed her on a table full of dishes and food at Denny’s. All the times he ignored the restraining order, showing up at her apartment several times leading up to the shooting.

More from Law&Crime: Ex-boyfriend who threw mother of 2 ‘out with the trash’ charged with murder after ‘large crime scene’ found: Police

“Those restraining orders are just a piece of paper,” Knighton reportedly said. “They don’t stop a bullet.”

In May 2021, Knighton was on her couch in her Miami Gardens apartment when Blount allegedly grabbed a gun from a car, barged into the home and shot her eight times. He reportedly told her “Look what you made me do.”

As a result, Knighton has had to undergo some 11 surgeries and suffers from other health problems. She also must walk with a cane.

Blount has sat in a Miami-Dade County jail cell for nearly four years. Last month Blount and prosecutors came to a plea deal where he would plead guilty to attempted murder in exchange for a 20-year prison sentence. But Knighton reportedly testified that she felt the punishment was not stiff enough for all the terror he allegedly put her through.

Miami-Dade Judge Ellen Sue Venzer agreed, throwing out the plea deal.

“I think that the idea here is that I would have to agree that that would be an appropriate sentence, and I don’t,” Venzer reportedly said.

And so Blount is headed to trial, now facing even more potential jail time than the 20 years.

Afterward, Knighton expressed her thanks to the judge.

“She saw somebody that is suffering and she said, ‘Enough.’” she reportedly told reporters. “So I thank her for being candid and human. Just human.”

A 42-year-old mother in Michigan has been arrested for allegedly biting her own daughter on the neck and strangling the child before throwing her headfirst down a flight of stairs.

Jennifer Lynn Vargas was taken into custody earlier this month and charged with one count of assault with intent to murder and one count of first-degree child abuse, court records reviewed by Law&Crime show. Both charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.

The incident took place just a few minutes before midnight on Nov. 8, 2024, inside Vargas’ home in Blair Township, according to a report from MLive. Blair Township is about 160 miles northwest of Lansing.

Per the report, troopers with the Michigan State Police responded to the home where they made contact with Vargas and the victim, who were outside in the driveway. Investigators then interviewed the two individuals separately.

The victim’s name and age have not been released, but police did clarify that she is Vargas’ daughter.

The victim reportedly told authorities that Vargas attacked her, hitting her several times, strangling her, and then throwing her down a flight of stairs.

Authorities reportedly noted that the victim had at least one visible bite mark as well as a cut on her hand which she claimed was the result of her and Vargas struggling over a knife.

In addition to her visible injuries, the victim also reportedly said that she lost consciousness multiple times due to being strangled by Vargas.

Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City for treatment while Vargas was taken into custody.

Court documents obtained by Traverse City NBC affiliate WPBN provided additional details about the alleged attack.

The victim reportedly told authorities that Vargas physically assaulted her for over an hour. During the attack, the victim said Vargas strangled her and slammed her head into the floor before finally tossing her down the stairs headfirst, court documents reportedly said.

After being thrown down the stairs, the victim reportedly said that she pretended to be unconscious. When Vargas turned away, the victim reportedly said she ran to a nearby bedroom and locked the door.

As the victim attempted to escape the home through a window, Vargas allegedly broke through the locked door, held her down on the bed, and strangled her again. While strangling the victim, Vargas allegedly told the victim “she was going to be sacrificed.”

Vargas is currently being held in the Grand Traverse County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond. A judge ordered her to have no contact with the victim and to stay at least 500 yards away from her.

Vargas is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. on Dec. 2.

Jason Robert Steiner in a courtroom in Multnomah County, Oregon, on Oct. 10, 2024 (KGW).

The cannabis store worker who killed two alleged robbers did not leave the scene when he previously had the opportunity to do so, say prosecutors in Multnomah County, Oregon.

The attorney of Jason Robert Steiner, 34, pleaded not guilty on his behalf when he showed up to court during a hearing on Thursday, according to The Oregonian.

Authorities said that the defendant, an employee at the regional cannabis dispensary chain La Mota, was at a location the night of Oct. 3, reported the outlet and also NBC Portland affiliate KGW. He had told officers he was the only employee there that night, prosecutors wrote in an affidavit. Hearing a sound when he was in a backroom, he stepped out to find three individuals pointing guns at him, he allegedly said.

More Law&Crime coverage: Appeals court rejects qualified immunity for police officers who let drunk driver go and then charged ‘Good Samaritan’ who performed citizen’s arrest

They let him go, but based on one of them wondering aloud what he had on him, he feared they would follow him out, Steiner allegedly said. According to cops, he told investigators he took out his gun from his backpack once outside, and waited at the door in case they followed him. For example, he left his vehicle keys in the building and he voiced concern to officers that the robbers might take his car and “hunt him down.”

The robbers did not follow him out, however, he allegedly said. He went up to the drive-through window, and thinking one of the individuals inside had a gun out, he decided this “was his chance,” and he opened fire until running out of bullets, he allegedly said.

Steiner was the one to call 911. Police said they arrived to find King Lawrence, 18, dead at the scene. Tahir Burley, 20, was attempting to breathe but eventually died there as well. A third person seen on surveillance footage had already fled, officers said.

Authorities are charging Steiner with two counts of second-degree murder and a count of attempted murder because he did not leave when he had the chance.

“At that point, there was no apparent reason why Mr. Steiner did not leave the area,” police wrote. “The individuals were inside the building, the door was closed and Mr. Steiner was the length of the building away from the door and around the corner.”

Though surveillance footage roughly matched his story, it also showed that he opened fire through the drive-through window “almost immediately,” and that none of the three people inside had any gun out when he did so, investigators claim. Only Burley took out a gun, and that was after Steiner shot him, authorities said.

Investigators described finding 13 shell casings at the scene. Steiner allegedly introduced himself as the shooter when law enforcement arrived at the scene, and gave them both the weapon and an empty magazine, authorities said.

Asked why the semiautomatic weapon lacked a serial number, he said he made it, authorities said.

Steiner is reportedly serving three years of probation for a Dec. 15, 2021 incident in which he plowed his pickup truck into a truck belonging to the manager who fired him from another dispensary, then sped past a redlight into an unmarked sheriff’s patrol car, and kept driving until the sheriff’s sergeant in the damaged patrol vehicle successfully caught him.

A former coworker at that business, NW Compassion recreational and medical dispensary, told the outlet that Steiner was there for only a few weeks until he was accused of stealing from the register.

He was not charged with theft, but pleaded guilty on May 22, 2023, to charges including recklessly endangering another person — just days after he renewed his state permit to work in dispensaries and reportedly did not note any criminal convictions.

Authorities in Colorado arrested three people and are looking for a fourth after they allegedly attacked and beat up their roommate before holding him captive for several hours.

Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded around 10 a.m. Monday to the Saint Anthony’s Medical Center in Lakewood, just outside Denver. A 45-year-old man in the emergency room had a horrifying ordeal to tell. He said he had been tied up and beaten over 14 hours by his roommates. According to a probable cause arrest affidavit, he told deputies he had lived in a home in the 4700 block of South Oak Court for a couple of weeks.

More from Law&Crime: Man convinces college student to give him ride after his ‘car broke down,’ then attacks woman with razor, cops say

The man said he was in a bedroom in a basement when he overheard his roommates — later identified as 49-year-old Jason Carlson, 48-year-old Sherell Allen, 39-year-old Jimmy Ray Smith II and 41-year-old Luke Anaya — were planning on attacking him, officials said. He first tried to crawl out of a window. When that didn’t work, he barricaded himself in the room by putting items in front of the door. But moments later, the men allegedly broke through the door and fired rock salt at him from airsoft-type guns. They then began assaulting him, the affidavit said.

Smith put his boot on the victim’s throat and applied enough pleasure to “cause him to lose consciousness,” cops wrote. The suspects allegedly bound him to a chair with zip ties and electrical tape. As he was tied down, the roommates “took turns” whacking the victim’s knees with a baseball bat. Then, Carlson poured rubbing alcohol on the victim’s face before “lighting the liquid on fire,” the affidavit said.

The assault continued in the basement and upstairs until two other people came to the home and told the suspects to leave him alone. He was driven to another house before someone else took him to the hospital. The man’s injuries matched his story. He had singed eyebrows, burns on his face, swollen and discolored knees and broken thyroid cartilage on his neck, the affidavit said. There was also evidence he had been tied down. The affidavit does not list a possible motive for the alleged kidnapping.

The victim gave cops the location of the assault, and they identified Carlson as the homeowner. The SWAT team arrested Carlson, Allen and Anaya and took them to jail, where they remain on bond ranging from $150,000 to $300,000. Smith remains at large. They are facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping and assault.

William McClish preparing to attack Orlando police officers in a video he streamed on Facebook Live and mug shot (Orlando Police Dept.)

A 29-year-old man in Florida who last year turned down a plea deal that would have sent him to prison for five years may now spend the remainder of his life locked up for brutally ambushing two police officers in an attack that he streamed live on Facebook.

Orange County Circuit Court Judge Keven B. Weiss on Tuesday ordered William McClish to serve a sentence of life in prison after being convicted on charges of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer with great bodily harm, among others, authorities announced.

In a news release, prosecutors with the Orange-Osceola State Attorney’s Office said jurors took less than an hour to find McClish guilty on all charges following a two-day trial.

Acting as his own defense attorney, McClish tried to convince jurors that he had been set up, keeping his opening remarks to a single sentence.

“I didn’t do it and the evidence was tampered with,” was all he said, according to the state attorney’s office.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, the unprovoked attack took place at about 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 25, 2021.

Uniformed officers Michael Zambito and Stephen Hurt with the Orlando Police Department were standing outside their patrol vehicle at North Magnolia and East Washington Street when Zambito spotted McClish, who appeared to be setting up a cellphone to record a video of the officers.

Shortly thereafter, McClish struck Hurt in the back of the head with a brick and then started punching Hurt as he fell to the ground. Zambito intervened, lifting McCliup from behind. But McClish bit Zambito’s bicep, then “slipped his head out of Zambito’s grip and began gouging Zambito’s left eye with his fingers. When the officer managed to “stop the defendant from gouging his eye out,” McClish bit the middle finger on the officer’s left hand, the affidavit states.

As McClish and the officer continued to struggle, McClish grabbed the officer’s radio hand mic, pulling it off his shoulder to prevent him from calling for help.

Additional officers who were already en route arrived a short while later and they were able to subdue McClish and take him into custody.

Prosecutors said they later learned that McClish had positioned his phone against a trash can, trained it on the two officers and streamed the attack on Facebook Live. Just before beginning the recording, McClish filmed and posted another video in which he speaks to the camera, saying, “I’m gonna kill him on Live.” Prosecutors said that video established that McClish intended to kill the officers.

Additionally, while incarcerated, McClish “boasted about his attempt to take the officer’s firearm during the assault,” prosecutors said.

According to a report from Orlando ABC affiliate WFTV, prosecutors under then-State Attorney for the Ninth Circuit Monique Worrell offered McClish a deal in 2023 in which he would serve only five years by pleading guilty to a lesser charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer. However, McClish reportedly rejected the deal in August 2023.

When the state attorney was removed from office and replaced, new prosecutors said there was no explanation for why a deal was ever offered to McClish. Earlier this year, McClish attempted to have the deal brought back to the table but was denied.

A man with a lengthy arrest history stabbed two teenage girls after he tried to sit in the area of a cafe in Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal, according to cops in New York City.

Steven Hutcherson, 36, is charged with attempted murder in the second degree as a hate crime, assault in the first and second degree as a hate crime, attempted assault in the first degree as a hate crime, and endangering the welfare of a child, according to New York ABC affiliate WABC.

“I want all the white people dead,” Hutcherson yelled, police sources told The New York Post. “I want to sit next to the crackers.”

According to authorities, a 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl were eating at Tartinery Cafe on the dining concourse of Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan on Monday just before 11:30 a.m.

Hutcherson, known to authorities as an emotionally disturbed man with a history that includes 17 prior arrests, allegedly argued with cafe staff after they told him he could not sit in the area.

Staffers told The Post that he wanted a table but was not going to order anything. After being refused, he pointed at the victims’ family and said they were not eating anything either. He then allegedly became enraged, grabbed a knife and attacked the girls, who were reportedly visiting the United States from Paraguay.

He stabbed the 16-year-old in the back, the blade of his knife nicking her lung, authorities said. He allegedly then stabbed the 14-year-old in the thigh. MTA police arrived from their nearby posts, and Hutcherson surrendered, putting down the knife, authorities said.

“They shouldn’t have let him out,” Yussif Abdullahi, 46, told The Post. “I don’t believe it.”

Hutcherson was sentenced on Dec. 12 to conditional discharge for a Nov. 7 incident in which he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor third-degree assault.

Abdullahi described working outside a freight truck depot in the Bronx neighborhood of Hunts Point. He said he saw Hutcherson attacking a woman.

“Why are you working for white people? I’m going to kill this man!” Hutcherson, who is Black, told Abdullahi, who arrived in the U.S. from Ghana in 2008.

The defendant threatened to shoot him, according to the criminal complaint obtained by The Post.

“I don’t care what kind of green card the government gave you,” Hutcherson said in documents. “Open your mouth and say something. I will shoot you right now.”

Abdullahi said he first believed that the man might have been “high and going crazy.”

As he attempted to walk back into his workshop, Hutcherson blocked him and showed what seemed to be a gun tucked into his waistband.

“He pulled a gun on me and said, ‘I don’t care what kind of green card you have. I’m gonna shoot you right now!” Abdullahi told the outlet.

Authorities said Hutcherson later sucker-punched a man a block away. They found a knife on him but not a gun when they arrested him at a local gas station for the original charges of criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, harassment, and assault.

A man is accused of shooting his girlfriend and her adult daughter, even as the women tried to escape.

Shaun Dougherty, 60, faces two counts of attempted murder in Martin County, Florida.

Authorities said that the defendant was “highly intoxicated” Thursday night when he arrived at his home, located in a gated community off Greenwood Way in Palm City, according to a sheriff’s office press statement and a report from West Palm Beach NBC affiliate WPTV.

Dougherty allegedly started arguing with his girlfriend over their relationship. She rejected him after he demanded sex, detectives reportedly said.

At some point, Dougherty allegedly shot her in the neck, and then, when she tried to run, in her leg.

The woman’s adult daughter, who was at the home, ran out of her bedroom after hearing the shots, but Dougherty shot her as she tried to run, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Both women made it outside to a neighbors and called 911,” deputies said. “MCSO SWAT Team was called out and surrounded the home, forcing Dougherty out. He was taken into custody. Both victims were transported to the hospital and are expected to recover.”

William Wagner, a neighbor, described hearing “foul loud bangs,” according to WPTV. Believing this to be fireworks at first, he looked out his window.

“Then I started hearing people yelling in agony,” Wagner said. “Then I heard them yell, ‘Call the cops.’”

Another neighbor, Les Frost, reportedly described getting a knock on the door seconds after the shooting. It was Dougherty’s girlfriend.

“We heard the banging on the door,” Frost said. “I answered the door, and the woman was there. She was all covered in blood, and she said she was shot.”

He called 911 and worried that she might not survive.

The adult daughter told WPTV that her mother survived gunshots to the chest, neck, and arm. The daughter was shot in the arm.

Deputies said the women are expected to make a full recovery.
