An Arizona man is facing felony aggravated assault charges for an “unprovoked” attack he allegedly unleashed on a stranger, with cops saying he grabbed an individual from behind and “completely removed” their eyeball from the eye socket after the victim walked by and asked the suspect, “How are you doing?”

“The victim stated that during this incident he was in fear for his life and safety, believing that Daniel could have killed him,” police allege in court documents obtained by local Fox affiliate KSAZ, which outline the charges against Daniel Lanks, 39, who is accused of carrying out the attack on Monday, April 14, near 48th Street and Broadway Road, the station reports.

“The attack was completely unprovoked, and he did not threaten Daniel, challenge him, and did not have any form of weapons to be perceived as a threat,” the documents say, according to KSAZ. Lanks allegedly pummeled the victim with punches to his face after removing his eyeball, causing a fractured jaw.

The scene inside a Colorado courtroom looked a grim picture of human action on Friday as a young and condemned man testified to his onetime best friend’s alleged glee in violence.

Joseph Edwin Koenig, 20, was a high school senior, but 18 years old, when he and two friends were charged with “extreme indifference” murder over the April 19, 2023, death of Alexa Bartell, 20.

On the day in question, the windshield of the victim’s Chevy Spark was struck and smashed by what authorities termed a “large landscaping rock.” The impact sent the young woman’s car careening “off the roadway” on a remote stretch of road in Jefferson County.

Bartell died a horrible death in the ensuing crash; prosecutors previously testified the victim’s brain was found in her backseat.

A 38-year-old man in New York City has been arrested after he allegedly performed an illegal plastic surgery procedure inside his home on a 31-year-old woman who was left brain-dead. Felipe Hoyos-Foronda was taken into custody at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Friday and charged with one count of second-degree assault and one count of unauthorized practice of a profession.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by The Independent, the victim went to Hoyos-Foronda’s home in Queens on the evening of March 28, 2025, because she wanted to have her butt implants removed. Shortly after she arrived at the residence, which reportedly doubled as a makeshift medical office, authorities say that Hoyos-Foronda administered several lidocaine injections.

Unfortunately, the injections soon caused the victim to go into cardiac arrest, police said. Hoyos-Foronda reportedly called Emergency Medical Services to his home before fleeing the scene in his car.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders entered the home where they found the victim unresponsive. She was transported to Astoria General Hospital for treatment, where doctors believed she suffered lidocaine toxicity due to excessive amounts of the drug being in her system, The New York Daily News reported. The condition typically causes seizures and an irregular heartbeat, but in extreme cases leads to cardiac arrest.

The building’s landlord reportedly provided authorities with information on Hoyos-Foronda and his photograph.

A bride-to-be’s bachelorette party was ruined after she was allegedly assaulted by a stranger while waiting for a ride outside a Texas nightclub.

Canada Rinaldi, 27, suffered a concussion, a broken nose, three chipped teeth and required eight stitches to her face in an attack on Saturday night — just a month from her wedding, GoFundMe page said.

The attacker came from behind.

“So I remember walking towards the back of the car, and then I remember waking up in an ambulance,” Rinaldi told local Fox affiliate KDFW. “That’s all I remember.”

Kirsten McDowell started the fundraiser to cover hospital expenses. She was among the group of friends who were celebrating Rinaldi’s upcoming marriage.

“Just 24 hours earlier, she had told us she was having ‘the best trip of her life,”” McDowell wrote. “That happiness was ripped away from her in an instant, turning it into the most terrifying and traumatizing night she’s ever experienced.”

Rinaldi, who lives in Oklahoma, racked up $10,000 in medical bills, McDowell said. She continues to recover and is hopeful her injuries will be cleared up by the time her wedding comes around.

“It’s just shocking,” she told Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA. “It’s hard to believe. I feel like a lot of my experiences were taken away from me.”

Meanwhile, the suspect remains at large. She told WFAA she didn’t know the man, nor did she understand why he attacked her. Her bridesmaid, Kelly Peralta, said in an interview with the TV station that she tried to intervene and ended up getting punched herself.

An Illinois man was arrested for allegedly attacking a pregnant woman with a lit “blunt” — also known as a marijuana cigar — which he allegedly forced her to swallow in a strange midday assault that also saw him try to clean the victim’s feet for some reason, cops say.

“I need to wash your feet,” Benjamin Schroeder, 25, allegedly told the woman before forcing her to take down the scorching hot cigar, which left burns in her throat, according to the local ABC affiliate WTVO.

A Florida teenager has been charged with murder after the “severely injured” victim of an alleged Christmastime robbery and assault died in the hospital.

Antonio Gueits, 18, is facing a felony murder charge for the death of Cerida Charon, 65. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, in the early morning hours of Dec. 26, 2024, Gueits attacked Charon in an incident that was captured by a surveillance camera.

Former Duane Morris partner arrested on outstanding warrant related to Michigan assault case

Updated: A former Duane Morris partner was arrested on an outstanding Michigan warrant at his condo in Chicago’s South Loop on Friday, the same building where his wife’s body was found in a stairwell in October 2024.

Adam Beckerink, 46, was ordered extradited to Michigan at a court hearing Monday, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The warrant was based on charges of domestic abuse and assaulting police officers arising from incidents at the home in Berrien County, Michigan, where Beckerink’s wife, 36-year-old Caitlin Tracey, lived before her death, WGN-TV reports.

Initial media reports said the warrant was issued after Beckerink did not show up for a pretrial hearing in the Michigan case in October 2024. He also missed his trial that was set to happen days later, the reports said.

But Chicago police said the warrant was for alleged violation of pretrial conditions in the Michigan case, without providing further information, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Beckerink has not been charged in Tracey’s death. But in the extradition hearing Monday, Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Danny Hanichak referred to Beckerink as a suspect, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Beckerink’s lawyer, Jonathan Brayman, said Monday and at a court hearing Saturday the warrant was not valid, according to the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times.

Brayman said Monday that his client had attended all his hearings and had not violated any conditions of pretrial release, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Beckerink “is the absolute opposite of a fugitive from justice,” Brayman said on Monday, pointing out that Beckerink was arrested at home.

Beckerink was ousted from Duane Morris after the law firm became aware of domestic violence allegations against him made in court proceedings, including allegations made by his wife when she obtained an order of protection against Beckerink in 2023.

An Oklahoma woman was arrested after she allegedly threatened a senior center resident with a knife and tried to blow up his oxygen machine.

Marketta Bates, 33, was taken into custody on Jan. 20 after an incident the same day at the Jeltz Senior Center in Oklahoma City. According to a police report obtained by KOKH, a local Fox affiliate, officers responded to calls about an assault at the center. When they arrived, they found Bates in a common area where a chaotic scene was taking place. The alleged victim, who was not named, told police that Bates pointed a knife at him after she threatened to light his oxygen tank on fire. Police saw the alleged victim’s oxygen tank on the ground near him, leaking liquid.

An MTA bus driver on his Friday afternoon route in New York City attacked and stabbed a passenger with a knife — plunging it into their head and leg — after getting into a “verbal dispute” and punched by the rider over making a stop, cops say.

Ian Bascombe, 58, was allegedly driving a southbound B41 bus near Foster and Flatbush Aves. in Brooklyn, New York, when passenger Quentin Branch, 33, asked him to pull over to drop him off, according to the New York Police Department.

“The passenger wanted to exit at an unauthorized stop,” NYPD officials tell Law&Crime.
