A former funeral home owner in Mississippi has been accused of using a storage unit to illegally store bodies — even going so far as to describe it as his “casket warehouse” on TikTok — after he lost his business license, cops say.

“The discovery of human remains in a storage unit in our city is deeply disturbing and raises serious concerns that demand a thorough investigation,” Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons said in a statement last week after the arrest of Albert “Al” Creath, 31, was announced by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.

Creath, a former owner of the Creath Memorial Services funeral home in Greenville, was arrested and charged with two counts of improper desecration of corpses after authorities found three bodies inside of a storage unit belonging to him at a facility in the 2000 block of Reed Road near Beauchamp, The Clarion-Ledger reports.

Washington County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Billy Barber told The Delta News that he believed Creath was trying to continue hosting funerals and burials, which he advertised for on social media. He said the bodies were discovered during a suspected burglary.

More from Law&Crime: Teen and his buddy fired nearly 100 bullets into apartment of romantic rival, but killed the wrong man: Cops

“This is an isolated incident from somebody just not doing what they were initially assigned to do with these corpses,” Barber said.

Videos posted on a TikTok account purportedly belonging to Creath, who goes by “FuneralHomeCEO” online, show him stowing away caskets and other funeral items inside of a storage unit.

“My 2nd home,” he says in a caption for a video from September 2024.

“Casket warehouse,” Creath adds.

Authorities say they are probing the former funeral home owner and his actions since losing the business license to see if they warrant any other charges.

“As more details emerge, we will continue to keep the public informed,” Simmons said. “Greenville is a community that values dignity, respect, and the rule of law. We will not tolerate any actions that violate those principles. I understand an arrest has been made but I also urge others with information to come forward and assist authorities in their investigation.”

A bedridden 80-year-old in Oregon was killed and stuffed into a suitcase after her house was taken over by squatters, with cops and friends saying they turned it into a “base of operations to commit crimes” — including the woman’s murder and “abuse” of her corpse.

“She didn’t even know who was living there,” said one of Judy Hurley’s only reported acquaintances, Justin Misner, who spoke to local Fox affiliate KPTV about the octogenarian’s death this month at the hands of 54-year-old Michael Moody, who was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree murder.

“I was disgusted and it’s horrible,” said Misner’s partner, Leslie Ortiz. “Nobody deserves to go that way regardless of your history.”

Misner and Ortiz reportedly met Hurley in the spring of 2024 after showing interest in buying her home on North Syracuse Street in the St. John’s neighborhood of Portland on Sauvie Island. The couple told KPTV that the woman had no family or friends that they knew of and she was moving out of her residence to go to a retirement home.

“We helped her move out of this home and into a retirement home as well as helping her to doctor’s appointments,” Misner said. “We grew really attached. She would tell us that she loved us and told us that she thought we were family. She told us we were the only ones that, like, actually helped her the last couple of years.”

Hurley reportedly left the retirement home for medical reasons and was forced to return to her home on Sauvie Island, where she was bedridden and unable to keep it secure from unwanted entry. Squatters allegedly took over the residence and began living on the second floor, given Hurley’s state and inability to check upstairs.

“Judy was in a pretty bad spot,” Misner said. “People would come to the house and essentially use it as a base of operations to commit crimes.”

Misner said they lost contact with Hurley after moving her into the retirement home.

It’s unclear when Hurley was killed exactly, according to police. Her body was “found inside a suitcase on the west bank of the Willamette River” on Feb. 17 and her death was determined to be a homicide, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office reports.

“Detectives gathered evidence establishing probable cause to charge [Moody],” the sheriff’s office said in a press release Friday. “The investigation remains active, and detectives continue gathering evidence at this time.”

More from Law&Crime: Teen who killed a grandmother walking into her gym had a Greyhound bus ticket and a plan to ‘stay low’ in Mexico

Misner and Ortiz believe Hurley was preyed on due to her kindness and generosity.

“It’s hard to hear about any passing in general but to hear how she passed is really heartbreaking,” Misner told KPTV. “I believe that she was just a really kind person that just got taken advantage of.”

Moody has been arraigned on charges of murder and abuse of a corpse. He’s due to appear in court again on March 3.

Inset: Lola Karabaeva (Philadelphia Police Department). Background: The house Karabaeva lived and died in (Google Maps).

Mystery and memory swirl prominently in a Pennsylvania criminal investigation after a woman’s body was found covered in plastic and stashed inside a closet of her own home earlier this week.

Lola Karabaeva, 61, was found deceased at her residence on Diplomat Place in the Bustleton neighborhood of Philadelphia on Wednesday, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

Now, her husband, Vladimir Lushevskiy, 65, stands accused of one count of abuse of a corpse. Additional charges may be in the offing “depending on the outcome of the investigation,” police say. That inquiry is currently being conducted by homicide detectives.

And yet another death may prove to play a significant role in the still unwinding case — a death that occurred some 20 years prior.

In 2004, Evgeniy “Eugene” Lushevskiy, 19, the couple’s son, was on a gap year journey. The Uzbekistan-born traveler went hiking up Mount Baldy in Claremont, California. But he never made it down.

The son was last seen alive on Oct. 31, 2004, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue unit. An “an unseasonably early snowfall came in that night,” the sheriff’s office said in a lengthy write-up of the investigation into his disappearance.

“On Saturday November 6, 2004 Eugene’s backpack was found near the summit of Mt. Baldy,” the sheriff’s office of the initial search narrative reads. “Among the items located in the backpack was Eugene’s video camera. The images on the camera showed portions of his trip to the mountain, night hiking, cooking over a fire and sunrise on the morning of Monday November 1, 2004. Early winter storms hampered the search, but it continued both on the ground and via helicopter over the next couple of weeks with as many as 115 Search and Rescue members on the mountain in a single day.”

Over the next six or so years, the searches continued — but were consistently hampered by inclement weather and the steep slopes of the mountain terrain. Finally, in 2010, human remains were recovered from one “extremely hazardous” canyon area. In April, 2011, the remains were confirmed to belong to the long-missing teenager.

Police believe the years-ago loss of their son may have caused a fatal argument between Karabaeva and her husband, according to law enforcement sources cited by CBS News. Part of this line of thought has to do with the date the woman herself went missing.

Karabaeva last spoke to friends — and was last seen alive — on Oct. 12, which just so happens to be her son’s birthday.

Police say the same friend who phoned in the missing person report said they talked to Karabaeva around 2:30 a.m. that night.

Proof of life was confirmed in surveillance footage obtained by Philadelphia-based ABC affiliate WPVI. In that footage, Karabaeva can be seen driving up to the residence, getting out of her car, and then struggling with the front door for a few minutes.

One neighbor said the woman had just returned from abroad.

“She has been in Europe two weeks, maybe three weeks, I don’t know,” the neighbor said. “I saw just her car.”

Multiple neighbors told the TV station they saw Vladimir Lushevskiy the next day — going in and out of their house and then moving the vehicles that belonged to both him and his wife.

“That’s what was strange,” another neighbor said. “On Saturday, he was moving the cars a lot. Shuffling in and out. In and out.”

Eventually, the woman’s car was found in a nearby church parking lot.

Then came the distressing find — a woman wrapped in some kind of plastic, sealed with duct tape, and taped to a board in a closet.

“The police were here — what I know of — Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,” the second neighbor continued. “They went in the house each day, and then they found it yesterday.”

Karabaeva’s cause of death has yet to be determined, police said.

A Kentucky woman is behind bars after pieces of another woman’s dismembered body were found behind her mother’s home earlier this week, police in the Bluegrass State say.

Torilena Fields, 32, stands accused of one count each of obstructing governmental operations, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of corpse, according to Bourbon County jail records.

Law enforcement says multiple indices of occult practices came up during the so-far brief investigation into the macabre crime scene.

Early Wednesday afternoon, maintenance workers arrived at a residence on Brierly Ridge Road in Robertson County, Kentucky, to “work on a building for the property owner,” according to a citation obtained by Cincinnati-based NBC affiliate WLWT.

After receiving no response at the front door, the workers walked around toward the back of the residence, according to a police release cited by Cincinnati-based ABC affiliate WCPO. There, they allegedly found a pile of hair, a bloody mattress, and drag marks. Then, they followed upset grass until making an even more grim discovery.

At around 12:26 p.m., one maintenance worker called 911 after allegedly finding human remains behind the house — presumably those that belonged to the owner of the house. Kansas State Police arrived and found what the document terms a “dismembered body.”

Along with those human remains, state troopers allegedly found a “blood-stained mattress” as well as tell-tale “blood on the back porch” and on the “threshold of the back door,” according to the citation. Additionally, investigators said they found a blood-stained stick near the back porch — and another bloody mattress there.

State troopers also described “drag marks” in the grass — starting from the residence and ending where the body had been dumped.

The workers said Wednesday was at least the second time they had visited the property owned by Trudy Fields this week.

The maintenance men said he had been to the Fields property the day before where they encountered the defendant “casting spells on them and being confrontational,” according to the citation.

A special response team eventually arrived at the residence and attempted to extricate Torilena Fields. The younger woman allegedly refused — leading to a lengthy standoff that only dissipated at around 11 p.m. after the use of tear gas and a police robot, authorities said.

Troopers wrote in the citation that when the defendant finally left the house, she “appeared to have blood on her face, hands and clothing.”

“This is going to be a long night for our guys,” Kentucky State Police Trooper David Jones told Lexington-based Fox affiliate WDKY.

Inside, the crime scene was revealed to be even more gruesome.

The victim’s body had its arms, legs and head removed with the torso and spine “severed in half and the organs removed,” according to the citation. Investigators also said they found body parts that “appeared to have been cooked” in a steel pot inside the oven.

“The pot was still warm to the touch,” the citation reads.

A spokesperson for the Kentucky State Police told Law&Crime the agency would be confirming the identity of the victim on Friday morning following an autopsy.

The defendant is currently being detained at the Bourbon County Detention Center without bond.

State police said additional charges could be filed pending the results of the ongoing investigation.
